Job Purpose: General inspection, maintenance and repair for passenger vehicles and light trucks Training, assistance, and supervising of auto technicians of varying levels of experience Oversee daily operations Advising business owners on technical capabilities Job Responsibilities: Day to day business operations Inspecting and testing vehicles, completing preventive maintenance such as engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation and changes, wheel balancing and replacing filters. Listening to customers’ descriptions of issues, repairing engine failures, repairing mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions, replacing parts and components. Verifying vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives and adjusting controls and systems. Keeping shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance and calling for repairs. Containing costs by using warranty and evaluating service and parts options. Keeping supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders and verifying receipt. Skills: Updating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications. Supervising and mentoring employees, assisting with recruitment and managing scheduling. Advising and exploring of desirable service/product offering opportunities to maximize shop profits and minimize risk.
