STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
To consider questions and provide input on issues that are critical to the design of a respite and carer support system that is effectively integrated within the aged care
system and which is flexible and responsive to the needs of carers. This will primarily involve consideration of:


Respite services delivered under the NRCP;
Respite (under HACC service group one) and Centre-based day care (under HACC service group four), and carer counselling, information and advocacy (under HACC
service group two) currently delivered under the Commonwealth HACC program; and
The role and structure of residential respite care, as well as its interface with home and community cased respite services and programs.
NB: This SOP has been agreed at the Respite subgroup.
