2014 Sunrise Award Annual Meeting Announcement Sarah Small, Winner The Sunrise Award was first presented in 1987. It is given at the Annual Meeting of the League of Women Voters of St. Paul to a Leaguer who has shown exceptional service and commitment to the organization during his or her first three years as a member. This year’s Sunrise Award goes to Sarah Small. Sarah became a member and joined the board in 2012 after attending one of our Young Professionals events. Sarah immediately took leadership on the League’s marketing and technology efforts, and became our webmaster. In this role, she developed procedures to streamline our marketing and communications, which have been instrumental in helping our organization reach a larger audience online. Sarah has spent a lot of time and energy posting content to our website and Facebook page, troubleshooting, and responding to emails from the public. She has also increased our organization’s technology capacity by training our next Webmaster, Dru Osterud. In addition to her work with communications, Sarah organized a Smart Chicks happy hour at the Groveland Tap for League members and their guests. In the coming year she will continue to add value in our membership and recruitment efforts as part of the membership team. Sarah’s logical and thoughtful nature has been invaluable to our board discussions since she joined. She provides leadership and vision for the League and we are lucky to have her. Congratulations, Sarah, and thank you for all of your great work for the League of Women Voters!
