Mechanical Circulatory Support Advanced Practice Provider UCSF Medical Center Position will be hired into as either a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant based on qualifications. Responsible for coordinating the clinical, procedural, administrative and educational care of inpatients and outpatients with end stage cardiac and pulmonary failure patients requiring mechanical circulatory support. Complies with all regulatory data needs for both patient populations. Collaborates with medical and nursing management on the preoperative/postoperative examination and assessment, diagnosis, planning, treatment implementation, coordination and continuity of care. Assumes a leadership role with the interdisciplinary team to define and achieve optimal programmatic outcomes. Serves on hospital committees relevant to the care of the end stage cardiac/pulmonary failure patients requiring mechanical circulatory support. Provide and oversee MCS education for hospital wide staff (nursing and ancillary positions) as well as community facilities and patients and families. Nurse Practitioner Master's in Nursing Current CA RN/NP licensure 2 years recent RN experience in a critical cardiac care unit, intensive care or operating room Physician Assistant Minimum 2 years PA experience in a critical cardiac care unit, intensive care unit or operating room Current CA PA licensure Graduate of a recognized PA Training Program National Certification by the National Commission on Certification for Physician’s Assistants Preferred Research experience in investigational drug/device trials Licensure/Certification Current American Heart Association CPR & ACLS certification California Furnishing license.
