Center for Global Health Global Health Nursing Fellowship 10-11 month, fixed-term appointment The Global Health Nursing Fellowship is a unique, 10-11 month position in collaboration with the School of Nursing Center for Global Health. The Fellowship will provide the holder with extensive experience in program management, partnership development and clinical competency necessary for a career as an advanced practice global health nurse in a resource-limited setting. The Global Health Nursing Fellow will spend a minimum of six months in Haiti during the year, working collaboratively with the Haitian clinical and training staff of our partners, Partners In Health and Zamni Lasante. Interprofessional programing will be carried out alongside UCSF Global Health Hospitalist Medicine Fellows. The Nurse Fellow’s role while in Haiti includes collaborating with clinical staff of Sainte-Thérèse Hospital, a Haitian Ministry of Health facility, on development of clinical education objectives, delivery of didactic and clinical training and modeling of interdisciplinary patient care. The remainder of the Fellow’s time will be spent at UCSF, developing skills as an instructor by providing classroom support for graduate level courses. MSN graduates may provide clinical instruction to nurse practitioner students with mentorship from UCSF Family Nurse Practitioner faculty as well as increasing clinical skills through mentored clinical experiences in the Bay Area. Other opportunities for nurses with a Masters in Global Health Sciences will be offered depending on experience. Education/Licensure – Minimum: Master of Science in Nursing or RN with MS in Global Health Sciences completed at UCSF California RN licensure California NP or CNS certificate for MSNs only; to be obtained prior to beginning fellowship National certification as a NP or CNS within six months of graduation for MSNs only Experience - Minimum: Clinical experience working with underserved and diverse populations Experience speaking a language other than English Additional Experience – Preferred: Clinical experience in an international and/or low-resource setting and ability to work independently Completion of the UCSF Global Health Minor or Global Health Clinical Scholars program (NP and CNS graduates only) Clinical experience with interprofessional education and practice One to two years of experience working in a US hospital as an RN Successful candidate must be available to begin the position by August 1, 2015.
