Upcoming 2014 Event
Dates!
Message from the Grand Knight!
My brother knights,
Summer has finally arrived in Minnesota and certainly in Waconia
too which means all of our summer meetings will be held at the
KC Park! Wives are invited to come and enjoy the first of many
fun evenings! We will have our traditional dairy meal which
consists of grilled cheese and onion sandwiches! Desserts are
always welcome! And we’ll have extra tootsie rolls available at the
next general meeting June 17 at the Park. Donations welcome!


Our Summer Social will be held at the KC Park will be June 20th
beginning about 6 pm! Brothers and their wives and guests are
invited to share this fun event! I hope everyone is selling their
raffle tickets for this large fundraiser. EVERYONE has to know at
least 4 other family and friends! (You have to buy one for
YOURSELF!) The good news is we have handed out all but 4
books (5 tickets in a book) for the raffle. Danny Steinhagen has
these last books and you can contact him if you need more.

Everyone should turn in their money as soon as possible. You
may turn the money into Manny & Mary, to Danny Steinhagen or
to Judy Niesen at the First Street Hair salon. All members are
expected to help out in the sale of the rafle tickets. Even if you
know someone who would buy 1 ticket, you need to step up and
sell that ticket to them! This is a big fundraiser for us so we need
your support! Judy and Joe Niesen kindly agreed to help Mary and
me out this year, so you can still pick up and drop off money to her
at her shop. Let’s make this year’s summer social a great success!

Thank you again for making my two terms as Grand Knight
memorable! Thanks to the new board members for stepping up to
the challenge for 2014-2015! We filled the chancellor position but

“One member, per

our candidate for deputy grand knight sadly declined. He’s not out
altogether but will consider being on the board at a future date. If
you truly want to get something out of this organization, then you
need to step up and run for office. You will be working with a
truly seasoned board of brothers and you might experience a true
fulfillment you never experienced before! Let Grand Knight-elect
Danny Steinhagen know right away so we can post our results
with the state.
I’ll still be the editor but now you’ll see another new face in the
box above! I hand the gavel over to you, Dan!

Lecturer’s Report
Our next regular meeting is June 17 at 7:00 PM at the KC Park off
of Hwy 10. (6:30 pm for socializing) After the meeting, we will
have the installation of officers with board elects from three other
councils. Let’s make them feel welcome!
We will have lunch, refreshments, door prizes and pot-o-gold.
There will NOT be any first degree this month and during the
summer. We will still consider new first degree applicants by
bringing them to another council-hosted exemplification. Keep
them coming in! Remember, one member, per council, per month!

Thanks to all…
…To Tim Serbus and Jim
Ebert for attempting to power
wash the shed in prep for
painting. Just wasn’t enough
water pressure to reach from
inside building out to shed.
We tried! Guess, we’ll just
plan a future scraping and
painting party this summer!
Speaking of, ha anyone looked
at the two pillars by the
entrance of the park? One has
a faded sign an the other is
open at the top and nothing on
it! Wouldn’t it look nice to
redo the entrance sign and
maybe make a plaque with a
large metallic KC logo on the
other pillar? Any ideas? Let
the
Home
Association
members know!
Update: We’ve got two new
fire extinguishers donated and
will be purchasing two new exit
signs which meet code!
(Thanks Jim for your working
your “connections”!)
Don’t forget to check out the
new & LIGHTER tables at the

New Fr. McGivney Merit Grants
Beginning this year and sponsored by the Waconia Council
#2506 Knights of Columbus are the new Fr. McGivney
Merit Grants. The intent of these grants are for those
students who plan to go onto college, vo-tech school or a
post high school within 6 months of graduating high school
and who is a graduating student with acceptable grades, who
is involved in community and church programs or events,
and who generally is considered an all-round student! Please
consider applying this year for this merit grant. More
information, applications and deadlines can be obtained from
our financial secretary Ted Schugg at 952-442-6374.
Preparations are in the making for Nickle Dickle Day!
Meetings are underway to see how St. Joseph’s school and
the Knights might get involved again this year. Last year,
the Knights helped fry up the eggrolls which was a big
success! We also ran the Bingo where participants young
and old like to sit relax and win BIG! After the planning
meetings are over, we’ll get back to the membership to see
how we can participate. More detail to follow!

The 24-Hour Knight
How did you do in 2014 as a 24-Hour Knight?
Congratulations if you hit or exceeded the mark! Being a
member of the Knights isn’t as time consuming as some
prospects may think, but we recognize we are all busy! It’s
2014 - a new year - and we ask all members to start anew by
getting involved in one of the following manners:
 12 hours a year reading the weekly church bulletin,
the state and local council newsletter and the monthly
Supreme Council magazine COLUMBIA.
 2 hours a year volunteering at a council event of their
interest.
 2 hours a year attending two council prayer services
with their family.
 2 hours a year on a council sponsored family project
or event
 2 hours a year attending one council meeting, if it is
a good one they attend more.
 4 hours a year attend a council social function with
their family.
 Helping out at our local Pancake and Fish Fry
events.
CONTINUE TO GET INVOLVED AND YOU WILL
REACH YOUR “24-HOUR” GOAL!
