Biographical Sketch – Sarah Puckett In addition to holding my BSN, I have a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biology. I am a member of the AANA, AACN, and two chapters in Sigma Theta Tau International. I have held various positions both in and outside of the hospital including: ICU Charge Nurse, Research Champion, Pain Champion, Unit based Council Co-chair, and Head Treasurer for the Lambda Psi chapter of STTI. My work experience includes 3 years of Stroke/Neuro ICU at a Level 1 trauma center, clinical faculty for med/surg and critical care nursing students, as well as 5 years as a chemist/microbiologist at ColgatePalmolive. Having worked as clinical faculty for Bellarmine University I understand the importance and value of open communication between students and those involved in their education. By maintaining an active role within the committee I would hope to provide guidance to my fellow students pertaining to current career topics, changes in COA standards, as well as implications from the ever-changing trends in today’s healthcare industry. In addition, I would provide a voice committed to the concerns that student nurse anesthesia provider’s experience. With a positive liaison between the committee and SRNAs I feel that much can be accomplished. Through utilization of the student column of the AANA News Bulletin I would hope to provide resources that are beneficial for all students across all programs. By partnering with other representatives from the various committees within the organization, the dissemination of pertinent information would easily be achieved. One of my main goals is to keep students informed. As decisions are made that will impact our future I feel the sooner we are made aware, the more prepared we can become. Furthering my involvement in the AANA is something very important to me. If elected as the student representative to the Educational Committee I promise to provide a voice for students, offer a fresh perspective on educational concerns, and be fully committed to the enhancement of the nurse anesthesia profession.
