Position Statement – Sarah Puckett
If appointed student representative to the AANA Educational Committee I believe I would
bring a well-rounded perspective to the position. Having worked as clinical faculty for
Bellarmine University I understand the importance and value of open communication
between students and those involved in their education. By maintaining an active role
within the committee I would hope to provide guidance to my fellow students pertaining
to current career topics, changes in COA standards, as well as implications from the
ever-changing trends in today’s healthcare industry. In addition, I would provide a voice
committed to the concerns that student nurse anesthesia provider’s experience. With a
positive liaison between the committee and SRNAs I feel that much can be
accomplished.
Through utilization of the student column of the AANA News Bulletin I would
hope to provide resources that are beneficial for all students across all programs. By
partnering with other representatives from the various committees within the
organization, the dissemination of pertinent information would easily be achieved. One of
my main goals is to keep students informed. As decisions are made that will impact our
future I feel the sooner we are made aware, the more prepared we can become.
Furthering my involvement in the AANA is something very important to me. If
elected as the student representative to the Educational Committee I promise to provide
a voice for students, offer a fresh perspective on educational concerns, and be fully
committed to the enhancement of the nurse anesthesia profession.
