CALL FOR GRAFFITI ART/ MURAL PROPOSALS DEADLINE TOAPPLY: 6PM Friday, May 23, 2014 Intermedia Arts’ is seeking proposals for new graffiti art and mural productions on three of the exterior walls of our 2822 Lyndale Avenue South building in Minneapolis. Our goal is to provide more Twin Cities-based graffiti artists with the wall space necessary to focus on their creative process, connect with their communities, advance their career, market their work, and develop new audiences for their work. We welcome your proposals for individual or collaborative productions. All proposals should include at least one Twin Cities-based writer or street artist as part of the team. Intermedia Arts increases visibility and awareness of under-represented viewpoints and communities, sparks dialogue and inspires social change. Productions with thematic connections to these goals will be given strong consideration. All painting on Intermedia Arts walls is by permission. If you choose not to submit an application for these walls, you can still request space to paint anytime throughout the summer on our parking lot walls by contacting our graffiti curator, JoJo at thegame@IntermediaArts.org. How Does the 2014 Summer Production Season Work? If selected, productions will be scheduled by Intermedia Arts staff. Intermedia Arts would provide you with the following resources: Assigned space on one of our most prominent outdoor walls. Access to 30 cans of Montana paint. $300 stipend per selected team Access to one tower of scaffolding for use during production. Production and planning meetings with Intermedia Arts staff Photo and description of completed production on Intermedia Arts website and inclusion in monthly E-Newsletter. As a selected artist or mural team, Intermedia Arts would require the following from you: Availability to complete production between June 8 and September 30 2014. The sooner it is completed, the more exposure and viewing time! Sunday, June 8 would be a great day for painting during Minneapolis Open Streets. Access to your own paint and scaffolding as necessary. Your proposal must include the following: Intermedia Arts Cover Sheet (1-pg max) Proposed drawing or digital illustration for one of our exterior walls; please let us know which wall you would like to paint 1-3 Work Samples Optional: Bio/s of key project members (1-pg max) ELIGIBILITY Any individual, group or organization is welcome to submit a proposal to Intermedia Arts including graffiti writers, aerosol artists, and street artists. All proposals should include at least one Twin CIties-based artist as part of the team. We encourage collaborations between graffiti writers, graffiti artists and other aerosol artists. SELECTION PROCESS Intermedia Arts programming staff and a panel of guests will review the submissions. All applicants will receive a response following their review. SELECTION CRITERIA Proposals are evaluated according to the following criteria: Artistic Quality: Does this production demonstrate artistic excellence? Does this artist have experience successfully presenting their work publicly? Does this artist demonstrate an ability to attract an audience and engage with their community? Community Impact / Social and Community Change: How will this project engage audiences? How does this project respond to Intermedia Arts’ thematic goals through artwork created in and with the community?
