We are seeking submissions from artists whose work demonstrates involvement in and knowledge of Hip-Hop culture. In honor of the ten year anniversary of the first B-Girl Be, this year’s exhibition, Space & Time, will showcase work speaking to the space women occupy in Hip-Hop culture’s past, present, and future. We encourage new work related to the exhibition them, Space & Time. “…And it don’t stop because we can’t quit / My whole intention is to build and uplift” -Bahamadia SUBMISSION GUIDELINES We are seeking proposals for the following art forms: Drawing Painting Photography Aerosol Sculpture Mixed Media Collage Airbrush Textile Video & Film Your proposal must include the following: Intermedia Arts Cover Sheet (1-pg max) 5 Work Samples Bio (1-pg max) Resume (2-pg max) Current photo for press We will select mostly 2-dimensional work with some 3-dimensional, freestanding, and multimedia work depending on space availability. *NOTE: Our exhibition has some restrictions in terms of size and form of pieces. SELECTION TIMELINE April 24, 2015: submission due (written concept, sketches, plans) May 8, 2015: selected artists are notified June 2-4, 2015: final artwork due @ Intermedia Arts June 5 - 10: Exhibit installed June 11 - August 22: Exhibit open to the public June 13: public reception August 23-24, 2015: exhibition closed; all artwork must be picked up SELECTION PROCESS Artists for the exhibition will be selected through this open call for submissions. Curators and Intermedia Arts will review work samples and select exhibition artists. All applicants will receive a response following their review.
