ALH Speedway 2016-2019 Pure Stock Rules
1. Cars: Minimum wheelbase of 100 inches. No trucks, vans, or convertibles of any type. All bodies, steering parts, bumpers, transmissions
and frames must remain stock O.E.M. and in stock locations unless otherwise specified. No add-on parts allowed unless specified. (2 new
cars have been allowed to be built as test cars for 2016: the Chevrolet El Camino and the Ford Ranchero. These cars must follow all rules
outlined below).
1.1. BODIES: Front and rear firewalls and floorboards must remain stock with all holes covered. Door skin and ¼ panels may be replaced
with sheet metal of the same thickness and conform to the body. All upholstery must be removed from the car. Wheel wells may be cut
out and rounded. Rear trunk floor on full frame cars may be removed. Closing in of passenger side compartment allowed (cockpits). All
window opening must remain open.
1.2 Transponders & Raceivers: Mandatory for all cars. Transponder must be mounted 21-23” behind the right hand lower ball joint to
the inside of the frame.
2. TIRE SIZE: Maximum tire size 275-60 series radial tires only. No off-road, recaps, or snow tires allowed. Used Hoosier racing tires
allowed. Tread must measure 7/32 or less in one of the grooves marked in the picture below (see fig 1.). DOT – All Season M&S tires
allowed. No M&S truck tires unless all season radials. No defacing of any tires. No grooving. Steel rims only: 8 inches max. Oversized wheel
studs and nuts recommended: max 5/8 inch stud. No rims with bead locks allowed.
3. BRAKE: 4 wheel working stock O.E.M. brakes is mandatory, all 4 must lock up and they will be checked at the track. No adjustable brake
bias valves. Rear brakes must be drum –no rear disc.
3.1 Differentials: Stock type only, Ford 9” non-floater is allowed in all cars. Max gear ratio is 4:10. No lightening/polishing of gears,
welded or mini spool only-no full spools/limited slip allowed. Inspection plug is required so carrier/gears can be inspected. Differential
must be mounted at stock locations-no offsetting, adjusting thrust line, and pinion angle.
4. ALL ENGINES: 8 cylinder naturally aspirated engines. 400ci max. Entire engine must remain O.E.M. stock unless otherwise specified.
Only GM motor allowed in GM, Ford in Ford etc. NO MODIFICATIONS TO ENHANCE HORSEPOWER. Air conditioning, alternator, pollution
devices, and heater may be removed. No engine setback allowed. Engine must remain in stock O.E.M. location. No racing or high
performance parts allowed unless specified. 1- ¼ inch carburetor adaptor plate may be used. Distance from intake to base of carb must
not exceed 1 ¾ of an inch. One 2-brl carb only: O.E.M. for make of motor. Choke may be removed: no other work allowed. No Holley
(4412), 500 CFM or 600CFM carbs. Flat top or dished pistons only. Pistons cannot go past top of block. Maximum camshaft lift
intake/exhaust is .450 inches including stock rocker ratio. Hydraulic cams only. No roller rocker/lifters. No aluminum intakes, heads or
blocks. Cast iron exhaust manifolds only. No center dumps or factory tuned manifold. No IT1 manifolds. Exhaust must exit under vehicle.
Stock type ignition system for that make of car. No performance ignition parts. Must remain stock for make of engine. Max overbore .060.
Max 9.5 compression. Oil pan must have an inspection hole that can be accessed and removed at the track.
4.1 SMALL BLOCK CHEVY: 327ci + must use a cylinder head with a minimum of 72cc, 1-cc tolerance. No centre hole (valve cover) heads
e.g.: Vortex.
4.2 SMALL BLOCK FORD: 351ci+ must use a cylinder head with a minimum of 72cc. 1-cc tolerance. No Boss heads.
4.3 SMALL BLOCK CHRYSLER: 360ci + use a cylinder head with a minimum of 72cc, 1-cc tolerance. No magnum heads.
4.4 COOLING SYSTEM: Belt drive water pumps only. Any radiator in stock location. Mechanical fans only. No electric cooling fans allowed.
5. TRANSMISSIONS: Stock type automatic transmissions only: GM with GM; Ford with Ford, Chrysler with Chrysler. No standard
transmissions allowed. No power glides allowed. No in and out transmissions allowed. Stock type torque converters only with a minimum
of 10 inches in diameter. Car must be able to idle in gear. (1000 RPM or less). No torque converter lock ups. All ranges must work (e.g.:
Park, Reverse, Drive, 2nd, 1st). Any size trans cooler allowed. Cooler must be mounted away from driver as to not spray on driver if
ruptured.
6. CRASH BARS: No front or rear crash bars. All bars must remain within the perimeter of the frame (except door bars). Bars allowed in
front of the rad must be flush. 1 inch tolerance. No front or rear bars past the end of the frame. No rub rails. No excessive bars.
6.1 BUMPERS: Front and rear stock bumper mounts may be replaced with a 4 inch or 6 inch .125 square tubing mounted at a right angle
to frame. Maximum length=6 inches: bolted or welded. No sharp edges. Racing nose cones may be used with fabricated bumpers.
Fabricated bumpers to be made out of the same round tubing as roll cage with max of two horizontal bars. Bars must be rounded at ends
to avoid piercing though the sides of other cars. Must be mounted like stock bumper. Diagram to follow (Speedway motors part number:
910-54721 as reference)
7. WINDSHIELDS: Windshields must be removed and either a heavy gauge screen or a minimum of 4 ¼” bars are to be mounted in front
of the driver in the windshield opening. No mirrors allowed.
8. ROLL CAGE: Steel tubing for roll cage must be at least .095 inch (1.565 on mic) wall and 1.66 minimum outside diameter. No pipe fitting
or galvanized tubing allowed. Must have a 3/16th inspection hold in a non-critical area. Roll cage must conform to interior. Driver’s head
cannot extend past top of roll cage. ROLL CAGE DIAGRAM IS NOW THE MINIMUM REQUIRED: A 4 or 6 point frame mounted roll cage is
mandatory and must have one main rollover continuous hoop to extend from the frame up to the roof, across and back down to the
opposite side frame. Two bars from top of the main hoop, going forward, bent (approx. 30 degrees) at the top of front window and
(approx. 60 degrees) at the bottom of the window, continuing to front frame (both sides). All other cross bars to be gusseted and butt
welded (see fig. 2 below). Minimum of 3 Torso or Kidney bars made of the same material standards as previously listed, must be welded
horizontally and equally spaced between window opening and lower door jam. These bars must be welded to the roll cage with ¼ inch
gussets along the inside of the driver’s door. Roof bar, front window bar and front corner posts required. All bars must tie into frame
with gussets. Full size uni-body cars must use a minimum 12 inch x 1/8th inch square floor plate bolted or welded to floor (for roll cage).
Mid-sized uni-body cars must use sub-frame connector; minimum .125 square tubing. Full frame cars may replace rear frame rail from
center of diff back with .125 square tubing: in stock location. Any other frame repair must use .125 wall metal. All doors must be bolted,
chained or welded shut. All cars equipped with a sun roof must cover sun roof opening with a 1/8th in steel plate.
9. BATTERY: Mandatory approved shut off/disconnect in reach of the driver. Battery either mounted in front passenger floor area or trunk
area in a marine battery case only and securely mounted with a hold down strap (e.g.: seat belt)
10. FUEL SYSTEMS: Pump gasoline only; no racing fuel. Max 10% ethanol enriched. No nitro, alcohol or additives allowed. Fuel cells are
mandatory. Mechanical fuel pumps only, no electric fuel pumps allowed. Max 3/8th inch steel fuel line recommended inside the car. No
excessive fuel line or size. NO FILLER SPOTS ON FUEL TANKS.
11. HOOD: There may be a hole in the hood directly above the carburetor. No hood scoops, but a hood deflector is allowed.
12. SHOCKS: Only one (1) shock per wheel stock mounted in stock location. No coil-overs allowed. No adjustable shocks.
13. WEIGHT RULE: Minimum 3200 pounds (lbs) with driver after the race. (No allowance for missing body parts.) All cars that cannot meet
the 3200lbs rule may add weight mounted anywhere on the car with a minimum ½” diameter bolts. Make sure they are secure and don’t
fall off as the car is weighed with driver (minus any missing bumpers, body, etc) after the race. Weight must be painted white and have
car number on it.
NOTE: TRACK OFFICIALS RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE ANY CAR IF IT IS NOT WITHIN THE ORIGINAL CONCEPT OR RULES OF THIS
CLASS.
SAFETY RULES
1. DRIVE SHAFT: Must be painted white and have a front continuous loop around drive shaft within 6 inches of the front universal joint.
Loop must be made out of steel at least ¼ inches thick by 2 inches wide. No chains.
2. STEERING COLUM: Must be collapsible.
3. SEAT BELTS: Minimum 5-point racing harness mandatory: tight and worn at all times including if your car is stopped. Do not undo your
belts until instructed by an official. Belts will be inspected for age/wear/condition. Max three (3) years old.
4. RACE SEATS: Approved racing seat and window net REQUIRED. Race seat mounted securely to roll cage at 4 pointes welded or bolted.
5. FIRE SUITS: Approved fire suit is mandatory.
6. HELMETS: Snell SA2010 or newer approved full face helmet or newer is mandatory. Helmets will be inspected for age/wear/condition.
Note: tear-offs should be used on visors (for mud_ and they require a special mounting system.
7. FIRE EXTINGUISHER: There must be one readily available in your pit area.
NOTE: Racing belts, helmets, seats, window nets and fire suits are cheap insurance and can be taken from car to car. It pays to get good
equipment.
