Extra Credit Opportunity Choose one of the following project ideas to earn up to 5 points added to your grade. You must research the topic to gain a full understanding of what you will be creating. The project must fully represent the Middle Ages. Project Options: Construction/Art Projects: (all items are handmade out of materials that are school appropriate) -Build a replica of a castle -Build a catapult or battering ram -Make a coat of arms -Make the armor and weapons of a knight -Create a painting in the medieval style -Design clothing or a costume from that time period -Create a battle shield Dramatic Presentation: (You may record or present live) -Dramatize a day in the life of a serf -Through a skit or video, explain to a student of today all about medieval dress -Create a TV newscast from the middle ages with headline stories, weather, and sports. Writing Assignments: -Write a short story that contains medieval characters, a conflict, and a resolution (i.e. a noble quest, triumph of good over evil, etc.) -Diary of a noble lady or a cloistered monk (at least 12 entries & must address issues of the time) -A medieval newspaper with want ads, news stories, weather, editorials, obituaries, and sports. **All projects will be presented to the class and put on display in the classroom. **You must be able to explain how your topic impacted life in Medieval Europe. **Include a list of resources that you used to research your topic.
