Thank you for your interest in our BioCellular treatment options. We offer two sources for Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs). Autologous Bone Marrow-Derived MSCs (self-donated, not cultured or expanded) as well as Placenta-Derived MSCS. Below is a brief synopsis regarding both treatments and fees. We would be happy to discuss these options in more detail with you; please feel free to email your questions to us. BioCellular treatments utilizing Mesenchymal Stem Cells do not require FDA approval and are available outside of a study. The following is just a brief summary of our BioCellular treatments. The Spine Institute/Orthopedic Stem Cell Institute BioCellular Treatment Options The use of stem cells holds the promise of making regenerative medicine a reality for the treatment of degenerative and traumatic conditions. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) promote the formation of bone, cartilage, ligament/tendon, and dermal tissues. MSCs are available from many sources including autologous (self donated) bone marrow aspiration, placenta-derived, adipose-derived and dental pulp (the center part of the tooth made up of connective tissue and cells). We are currently able to offer two sources for biocellular treatments for back, neck and joint pain. Autologous Bone Marrow-Derived Cells (BMC) The use of concentrated bone marrow aspirate (BMC) as a stem cell preparation is a simple and safe way of utilizing the regenerative potential of stem cells to affect tissue regeneration. This is a 30 minute office-based procedure utilizing the patient’s own cells harvested through the iliac crest (hip). The bone marrow aspirate is run through a centrifuge during which the cells are separated and captured. Once separated the concentrated cells are injected into the painful disc or joint. Placenta-Derived MSCs This 10 minute procedure done in the office, utilizes Placenta-Derived MSCs. MSCs derived from placenta tissue provide extracellular matrix, viable mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) that coordinate the tissue repair process and regenerative growth factors. Placenta-derived stem cells are easily accessible and do not have the ethical issues of embryonic stem cells. Placenta-Derived MSCs have the advantage of a higher concentration of MSCs compared to concentrated autologous bone marrow aspiration where the cell count decreases with the donor’s age. PRP – Platelet Rich Plasma Platelets – obtained by a simple blood draw – are tiny cells that contain thousands of growth factors that control and regulate your natural healing process by recruiting stem cells to the injured site. By concentrating the growth factors (cytokines) and injecting them at the site of injury or pain, healing can be achieved over the span of two to three months. We call this procedure platelet-rich plasma (PRP), which takes fewer than 30 minutes to conduct at our facility. Benefits of having follow-up treatment with PRP Platelets stimulate the regeneration of the stem cells. Two to four weeks following stem cell injections, it would be beneficial to provide your body with a natural boost to continue the stem cell signaling process. Benefits of having ASC via IV Increase circulating ASC in your blood stream to areas of inflammation. This may benefit you if you have system inflammation, such as RA, or frequent or multiple areas of tendonitis and arthritis. Please inquire about our payment plan. There is an additional fee for financing. **If the procedure is not 50% or more effective at 6-12 months, I may choose to repeat the procedure for 50% of the original cost. Any additional body parts are $750 per body part. All procedures done at PSCI are CASH or credit card only. 50% of your payment or minimum $3000 is due at the time of booking your procedure at PSCI. You MUST be paid in full a minimum of two (2) weeks prior to your scheduled procedure. Your payment is placed in an escrow account until the date of the scheduled procedure. Once the procedure has been provided, your payment will be applied to your balance at PSCI. You must understand that this procedure is still considered as experimental and is NOT guaranteed and that there will be NO REFUND if the results are not as expected. You must understand that if you have had previous surgery to a disc that is being injected with ASC, that this disc may be weaker and that there is potential that this procedure could increase a herniation or bulge to this disc. All procedures performed at the Premier Stem Cell Institute (PSCI) are NOT covered by Medicare or Private Health Insurance. You MUST have an MRI or CT scan for spine evaluation and/or x-ray for peripheral joints that is less than ONE year old when you are to be evaluated by the physician to see if you are an appropriate candidate for stem cell therapy or PRP. Thank you again for your interest and we look forward to your questions.
