Role Profile – Journalism/PR Volunteer Intern Age Concern Hampshire was established in 1985 and has a head office on St Cross Road, Winchester. Our vision is that getting older is a positive experience where all older people are respected, valued and able to make informed choices. To move towards achieving this, we work closely with Hampshire County Council and other partners in the voluntary and statutory sectors. We are currently offering an exciting opportunity to gain valuable journalism and PR experience by working with us as an intern. Our Communications department is growing at a rapid pace and we need a part time voluntary intern, to carry out a range of activities within our busy team. Working with, and supported by, our Communications Manager, you will gain experience in the following areas: Sourcing and writing articles for our quarterly newspaper. Making contact with local media to sell in our good news stories Coming up with ideas that will publicise the work we do and writing and issuing press releases Taking photographs of our clients, staff and activities and events Helping with communications admin – mounting coverage, responding to press enquiries, chasing up coverage in newspapers and magazines. There will also be opportunities to work on other projects, as agreed with the Communications Manager In addition, we offer: A contribution towards travel expenses Opportunities to work from home / flexibly Support and supervision Invaluable hands-on experience in the communications/voluntary sector Other Information Internships are normally offered for a six month period for approximately 15 hours per week. The role would suit a graduate looking to develop a career in the voluntary sector and/or journalism and communications.
