Hargreaves Ductwork Ltd has joined forces with the University of Wolverhampton on this KTP project to enable them to develop new approaches and technologies for the implementation of Computer Aided Design tools within the ventilation system industry supplying to the nuclear and other major commercial industries. Hargreaves Ductwork Ltd, based in Bury, Greater Manchester, are one of the UK’s leading providers of air movement and ventilation ductwork solutions, delivering projects throughout the UK ranging from Nuclear and Industrial Processes, to Healthcare, Retail, Commercial and Leisure. Working on this KTP you will gain highly sought-after experience and skill development within the manufacturing and construction industries. You will be responsible for project managing this programme of work, bringing your engineering and/or construction IT knowledge to the project. You will be expected to investigate Building Information Modelling (BIM) and to direct the company on how this evolving technology might be exploited within the ventilation design, manufacture and installation industry. It will be advantageous for you to be aware of how CAD systems can be tailored for individual company usage by utilising programming and scripting tools. Knowledge of BIM would be an advantage, but this area will be supported by university expertise. An exciting aspect to this post and one that will build on your engineering and/or construction IT knowledge is that you will investigate research and implement 3D scanning technologies for recording exterior and interior structural data. You will then develop this into detailed work instructions for the installation of complex ducting in a range of applications in advanced engineering environments. As a consequence of this you will be required to frequently work off-site in an independent but highly professional and safe manner. We seek a minimum BSc (Hons) 2:1 in Manufacturing/Construction or IT related subjects. You must be able to demonstrate practically your knowledge of 3D CAD software. You should be self-motivated and capable of working autonomously as well as in a team and be able to interact at all levels within industry with an inquisitive and innovative approach. Good communication skills are essential as is a flexible working approach and strict time management. A positive attitude and pride in your work, showing attention to detail and quality control are essential. Ability to balance technical issues with commercial constraints and demonstrate abstract- thinking skills are also key requirements for this role.
