The aim of this KTP was to allow the Company to offer an enhanced, efficient and flexible treatment services to its clients. The project also aimed to support the Company’s strategic goal of becoming one of the leading mobile treatment facilities in Scotland, providing solutions with integrated sludge and wastewater treatment facilities to industry, both on and offshore. The KTP will help promote the Company’s strategy of obtaining entry into new markets. RESULTS Took part in a seminar organised by the Chartered Institute of Waste Management to discuss proven technologies in biological and thermal treatment of municipal and hazardous waste, which helped in formulating technology trial reports Obtained a further degree as a result of the project Secured employment with Sureclean an an Environmental Manager, and was then named as the Industrial Supervisor for Sureclean’s current KTP project Developed and managed master level projects for the University Professor Peter Robertson, Centre for Research in Energy and the Environment (CREE), Robert Gordon University BENEFITS The project had significant staff development benefits for the Centre for Research in Energy and the Environment (CREE), in particular, developing their Project Management skills with respect to industrial priorities as opposed to traditional research objectives. The cost benefit analysis skills that have been developed have been particularly useful in the research commercialisation activities that have been growing within CREE. RESULTS Developed a key element of one of CREE’s key priority research areas in both solid waste management and advanced thermal technologies Additional research applications have been submitted to European Commission FP6 programme and collaborative FP7 programmes are also planned Case study material was produced and the Associate taught on the module for Environmental Policy, Management and Impact Assessment Development opportunities for both students and staff through active involvement of Sureclean in two master level projects and one undergraduate projects Sureclean and RGU are continuing to develop treatment equipment proving both commitment and contact with each other
