Safeguarding and Welfare Requirement: State here which EYFS Safeguarding and Welfare Requirement this document relates to. Providers must take all necessary steps to keep children safe and well Providers must maintain records and obtain and share information to ensure the safe and efficient management of the setting. Confidential information and records about staff and children must be held securely and only accessible to those who have a right or professional need to see them. Assessment plays an important part in helping parents, carers and practitioners to recognise children’s progress, understand their needs and to plan activities and support. IT Acceptable Use Policy Procedures Practitioners only use the iPads for educational purposes, to produce orbit observations, produce display boards and other educational documents such as transitional profiles. Unless agreed by the management, the ipads remain on the nursery premises, when the nursery is closed the ipads are stored away in a locked cabinet. All iPads are connected to the internet for research purposes only and have a password entry set up on all tablets. All computers and tablets are connected to the nursery email, which is monitored by management on a regular basis. Practitioners use the email to communicate documentation and messages between rooms. Under no circumstances are personal emails to be used. iPads are used for photography for use with Orbit and display boards only, once used, the photographs are deleted from all sources. Orbit is a web based observation and assessment tool for use by early year’s practitioners. We use this tool in our setting as a way of observing, assessing and building home-nursery links. In our setting the pre-school children have access to one computer and an interactive whiteboard, the children have access to loaded software only and this computer is not connected to the internet. The children are not left unattended when using the interactive whiteboard. We store all documentation, photographs and data on each individual child’s USB drive, these devices are locked away at all times for safeguarding purposes. Parents can request their child’s USB device at any time however they must sign the device in and out of the building. Once parents have signed the form they have signed over responsibility for the device and the contents.
