On most cold morning, Mustangs would descend from the Swasey Mountains in of Central Utah. When they descended from the mountains, they would gallop for miles across the plains. Both the stallions and mares, strong and beautiful, are guiding their young. This kind of sight is an enthralling, but it is also seems to infuriate many Americans. Choppers would appear in the sky and start herding the horses to a trap. A metal gate would slam behind them and then panic starts up. For many of the horses this will be their last moment of life. The families start being split up, the males, females, and their young are all sent to different holding facilities. With these roundups over 100,000 wild horses that happen to go to slaughter houses each year. "That there should be no horse slaughter house. Horses shouldn't have to go to slaughter houses." A film producer by the name of Ginger Kathrens, who has filmed the wild horses say's: "I know how much they love their families and their freedom." Mustangs and burros from nearly 32 million acres of public land from 10 western states, has been captured and removed by the government's wild horse "gathers." With the adoption rates falling and the costs that are doubling by the decade to about $78 million dollars, horses have been going to slaughter houses.
