A Bureau of Land Management Wild Mustang – An Albino Horse I Named “Wounded But Not Broken” A MESSAGE TO THE PEOPLE OF THE BIG BEND BY: OSHAWANNA WHITE EAGLE In order to find “COMMON GOOD FOR ALL” we can start by asking ourselves one single question. . . DO YOU BELIEVE IN LOVE? And to believe in love one must have virtues of kindness & compassion. So like the U2 song titled PRIDE (In the name of love) the lyrics tell us to WANT MORE IN THE NAME OF LOVE. So as I continue to write my message it comes straight from my heart to my brothers & sisters of mankind. It has been scientifically proven that all wildlife, plants, trees, water, and every stone have the same DNA genetic markings as HUMANS. As a Native American, it is our belief that all of Earth is ONE big family & the white horse is a messenger from the Universal Creator. As part of DNA genetic research the ancient bloodlines of Native American Indians are of interest due to their ability to survive against repeated annihilation attempts which date back prior to the Ancient Egyptian Era. The next ancient DNA bloodline on our planet is that of the WILD MUSTANGS & BURROS. For they are labeled as “EXOTICS” for they migrated to this continent just the same as the Native American Indian Tribes who crossed the Siberian bridge through Alaska when the two continents were still connected. Other bloodline descendants of the mustangs as well as Ethiopian slaves were brought by ship by the Spaniards when they came and militarily conquered our lands. Interesting enough all Native American Indians have African blood in their DNA. With all the DNA genetic research to look for weaknesses the only thing that has been discovered is that “EMOTIONAL PAIN” is what causes our DNA to mutate and make us susceptible to disease. Which is where the term “ALBINO” comes from which is a genetic mutation. These types of research have helped determine which markers contribute to different type of cancers within DNA bloodlines. All of this research is being done by Texas A&M University on behalf of the Bureau of Land Management. This research has proven that our WILD MUSTANGS & BURROS are being MANAGED FOR EXTINCTION. So the question I ask is……what is that telling us about the human race? Unfortunately the majority of our WILD MUSTANGS & BURROS of the Big Bend are ending up in the meat slaughter plant in Mexico. As I have tried to communicate, “WE” as mankind owe a tremendous debt to the WILD MUSTANGS & BURROS. But instead we treat them with such little dignity and allow them to be sold for cents on the pound to European Markets. This isn’t the first time the Government has allowed our WILD MUSTANGS & BURROS to be killed, as written in the book, “Radical Hope - Ethics in the face of cultural devastation” by Johnathon Lear. “In the 1st slaughter the government said that about 40,000 head were exterminated, but the Crows said it was more, including many tame ranch horses, which the gunmen preyed on when it got difficult to find the WILD HORSES. Thus by 1930, the great & proud horse people were bereft of Horses…To say the least this was traumatic & tragic experience for a proud HORSE oriented tribe, it was worse than actual military defeat.” The Natives knew they could not survive the wilderness as “I”, but rather as “WE”. It was putting family and the CHILDREN first that allowed this ancient bloodline to survive against all odds. So when do “WE” as mankind break the shackles of Government which have created separation for the FAMILY OF MANKIND? We could start by being the voice for those that that do not have one. “WE” could also lead by example and teach our CHILDREN so that they may carry forward LOVE & COMPASSION in their hearts for the ONE family of Earth. And just maybe, as we come together as ONE people to save these magnificent animals we can all find healing from the “EMOTIONAL PAINS” of our ancestral past and bring healing to the land of the Big Bend and in the process somehow save ourselves. “Stealing horses is stealing power” was a statement made frequently in historical native America and a reference to the esteemed role which Horse played in the native cultures. In understanding the power of the Horse, you may see how to strive for a balanced medicine shield. True power or wisdom found in remembering your total journey. Wisdom comes from remembering pathways you have walked in another person’s moccasins. Compassion, caring, teaching, loving, and sharing your gifts, talents, and abilities are the gateways to power. In allowing all pathways to have equal validity, you will see the power and glory of the unified family of humanity. The “I” has no place in this whirling Rainbow that comes from the Great Mystery and is replaced by the universal “we”. All colors of the rainbow and all pathways are honored as one.
