The University will be introducing a new chargeable printing payment system (called PaperCut) at the beginning of August. The company supplying the new system is running two introductory sessions for us. The sessions are booked for Thursday 28th July, 10-12 and 2-4, both being held in the Science Library IT training room, and are aimed at people who actually support and manage chargeable printing. Therefore if you support and manage chargeable printing within your School and wish to attend one of these introductory sessions, please email Lucy Collins (CollinsL2@cardiff.ac.uk). When is it being done? Thursday 21st July Who will be affected? All users of INSRV (imaged) workstations. How will this affect users? Your PC will receive updates and you will be required to reboot. Why is it being done? To apply the latest security updates. INSRV desktop Image - Updates to image 850 What is being done? This is a standard update to our desktop image. This work will bring the image up to date with the latest Networked Applications. There is also an iPrint update in the image. When is it being done? Tuesday 19th July - 0900 Who will be affected? All users who install the INSRV desktop image. How will this affect users? iPrint service not affected. The iprint update currently being force run will be removed as this will now be included in the image. Why is it being done? This work will update the image with the latest core applications. Question Mark Perception - Upgrade to Version 5 What is being done? We are upgrading Question Mark Perception to version 5. When is it being done? Monday 18th July Who will be affected? Users of Question Mark Perception 3 Department of Primary Care and Public Health How will this affect users? You will not be able to log into the system - students will be unable to take assessments at that time. Why is it being done? To upgrade to the latest version. CardiffMail at risk due to relocation of server What is being done? We need to relocate one of the servers that host CardiffMail to our second site. When is it being done? Wednesday 20th July - 0900-1700. Who will be affected? All users of CardiffMail.cf.ac.uk and other Domino services such as Teamplace. Access to mail via CardiffPortal will be unaffected. How will this affect users? Users should see no interruption to service, at risk only. Why is it being done? To maintain high availability of core systems. Replace servers for Home and Shared.cf.ac.uk What is being done? We need to replace the servers for Home.cf.ac.uk and Shared.cf.ac.uk When is it being done? Today, Thursday 14th July - 14:30-14:45 Who will be affected? Existing users of the Home and Shared service. How will this affect users? You should notice no change during this time, however the system should be considered at risk. Why is it being done? To improve performance Cardiff Portal - Upgrade and Database Migration What is being done? We are performing updates to Cardiff Portal and migrating the current Portal database. When is it being done? Wednesday 27 July - 14:30 - 17:00 Who will be affected? All users of Cardiff Portal How will this affect users? Cardiff Portal will be unavailable at this time. We will display an outage page during this time providing information on how to access core systems. Why is it being done?
