College updates (Elizabeth) Wednesday is the Dean’s first day Oct. 1 is reception with refreshments at 3pm Saturday is welcoming ceremony (Dean’s first event) Flu clinic in Fall in Learning Commons 2 dates are Oct 29 and Nov 5 Kraken reps: Bring two dates to Krakens and see which dates work - email Elizabeth with conflicts if any Canadian Federal Election Read and distribute email sent out earlier today 7. Explanation of roles, how meetings work (Laura) – 5 junior positions filled Directors/officers spearhead projects, everyone helps out everywhere! Course reps – No transition documents for course reps Phase 1s: Update CVSA Bulletin Board – get familiar with faces and names Phase 2s: Manage Facebook page – your decision on how you want to manage it, previously 2 posts a week Phase 3s: Coffeehouse coordinators – talent show every year Please send agenda items by FRIDAY BEFORE MEETING, PDR due by WEDNESDAY PDR: any DVM can apply to CVSA for different funding requests, etc. Please direct questions to the relevant directors/officers, otherwise Laura can help! Food took a long time to make o Maybe next year half cook food or start cooking earlier a. Half cooking is issue with SRM o Bigger barbeques and have barbeques ready the night before Need to check religious holiday calendar Invite more faculty Bring non OVC individuals - $2 for students, $5 for friends/family Any peer feedback? Great attendance and food was delicious Positive feedback from phase 1s Raffling merch was a great idea Good job social media! 9. SCVMA update (Jamie) SCVMA is link between students and CVMA Senior student and junior student from different vet schools in Canada Symposium being held at OVC this year January Being cut down to 2 day event Open registration on Thursday night continuing to Friday morning Friday: opening ceremony (breakfast, introduce CVMA exec), more of an educational day with lectures, wet labs, and dinner at the Ranch Saturday: hot breakfast, demos and workshops, tours at 1:30, closing banquet with Dr Terry talking about mental health, dance at ICC Raised $3,400 in sponsorship Volunteer opportunities to come! Transportation included (shuttles) About 350 students - $140 for registration 10. Committee Memberships (Laura) There are several committees on main campus and at OVC that require CVSA student membership on them. If anyone is interested in being on these committees please let me know: Student Rights and Responsibilities Committee (1 student: currently *Laura Omeljaniuk) Judicial Committee (2 students: currently *Laura Omeljaniuk, Ellen Everson) CSA Board of Directors (1 main, 1 alternate) DVM Program Committee (2 students: currently *Karen Carlton, Melanie Scott) Limited time commitment and last for 1 year Need someone to sit on CSA board of directors Needs to be CVSA executive member Meeting next Wednesday Laura will send out descriptions 11.
