Research and Project Experiences
09/2012Group member, research project sponsored by National Science Fund for Talents
01/2014
Training in Basic Science, “Quantitative Retrievals of Soil Properties with
Visible/Near-Infrared Spectroscopy”.
- Assessed the robustness of multivariate regression models for estimates of soil total
nitrogen (TN) and total sulfur (TS) contents using laboratory spectroscopy;
- Identified the important spectral wavelengths for estimation;
- Proposed model improvement ideas;
- Published two conference papers at the seminar by Soil Remote Sensing and
Information Committee (2013), Soil Science Society of China.
12/201301/2014
Independent Research, traffic path query system for Wuhan city.
- Developed a traffic path query system (map display, hawk eye, location query, and
shortest/fastest path query) under the Visual Studio using C#;
07/201308/2013
Group member, national geography base classes’ united cross-regional field
researches in Beijing city and northeastern China.
- Analyzed the spatial pattern evolution and drainage network of Beijing;
- Explored the hydrosphere-biosphere interactions and landform process of Changbai
Mountain, Yalu River estuary and Dalian city coast;
- Detected the forest cover change in Changbai Mountain by calculating NDVI from
MODIS data with ENVI.
05/201306/2013
Independent Research, land-use change simulation of Jiayu County.
- Performed land-use change simulation in Jiayu County with SPSS and CLUE-S
and tested the accuracy through overlay analysis in ARCGIS;

- Designed an urban expansion simulation system based on the Cellular Automaton
(CA) using C# under the Visual Studio;
- Learned about the binary logistic regression and programming of CA.
03/201304/2013
Independent Research, analysis of the climate change in china’s Yunnan–Guizhou
plateau region and its response to Asian monsoon activities.
- Analyzed temperature trend rate, precipitation variation, and climate periodicity in
Yunnan–Guizhou plateau from 1951 to 2007;
- Performed a correlation analysis between the climate change trend and the index of
horse latitudes and several indexes of Asian monsoons;
- Gained hands-on skills of time-series analysis using MATLAB, such as MannKendall test and Morlet wavelet analysis.
01/201302/2013
Independent Research, land-cover change detection of Wuhan city.
- Conducted supervised classification and change detection on two Landsat images
of Wuhan city with ENVI;
- Gained hands-on skills of digital image processing using IDL/ENVI, such as orthorectification, image classification and change detection.
08/201209/2012
Field researches, Three Gorges Geo-park and Mt. Lushan National Park.
- Analyzed the geological evolution process and the environmental outcomes
associated with the large dam in Three Gorges Geo-park;
- Investigated the landform development and the impact of local climate conditions
on vegetation types and soil-forming process in Mt. Lushan National Park and wrote
a report on this.
