Year 4 – ‘Rotten Romans’ Homework Project. 1 Choose ONE of these activities to complete. 2 DT/Art and Literacy Make a Roman soldier costume and write accompanying instructions We would like you to design and make your own Roman soldier outfit. This could just be a helmet, or you could even make a complete outfit! After you have made your helmet/costume, you also need to write clear instructions of how to make it. Literacy/DT Write an information page about chariot racing (and build a model chariot – optional!) Gladiator battles and chariot-racing were popular forms of entertainment for the Roman masses, which tells us they really enjoyed competitive sports – particularly violent ones! A day out at the races was even more popular than the gladiators. For your homework, please research Roman chariot racing and write an information text about it. You may also wish to design and build a model chariot. 3 Maths Draw a Roman villa floor plan and calculate the area and perimeter of each room Research the different rooms that there would have been inside a Roman villa. Draw a floor plan of your Roman villa (rectangular rooms) and calculate the area and perimeter of each room (you can decide the length and width of each room in metres). You may wish to complete this on squared paper, so 1cm=1m. Make sure you label what each room is. Please hand your homework project in by Monday 11th May (so you have three weeks worth of homework time to complete it!) If you need any basic resources such as paper, please speak to your teacher.
