Job Purpose
Lead as the external face of CIPD in Ireland to members, markets,
media and policymakers in support of CIPD’s purpose of
Championing better work and working lives. Build strong
relationships in support of greater member
engagement/strengthened volunteer effort/greater brand profile
and visibility.
Key accountabilities
1. CIPD Ireland strategy: Develop and deliver against the CIPD strategy for Ireland
in line with CIPD’s strategic objectives, developing membership and membership
value in close collaboration with CIPD UK to maximise resources and impact.
Develop a 1, 3 and 5 year implementation plan to be agreed with the Director of
Members and Markets and the National Committee.
2. UK Markets and Members: Collaborate effectively with Markets and Members
operations team in creating and designing the member and customer propositions for
Ireland
3. National Committee: Work in partnership with the National Committee to identify
future opportunities for growth and development of the HR and L&D profession in
Ireland, and to leverage the capabilities and experience of our extended volunteer
teams in Ireland
4. HR Leaders Network: Build and maintain an effective network and presence with
senior HR Leadership population in Ireland
5. Strategic partnerships: Identify opportunities for partnering on Irish HR thought
leadership and policy issues, building HR capability within organisations and
promoting CIPD’s brand to ensure that people management and development is at
the forefront of the agenda
6. Key Government departments and agencies: build strategic relationships with key
government departments and agencies, professional bodies, research organisations
and HR leaders, in collaboration with the CEO and the Director of Members and
Markets
7. Communications and media strategy: Represent the CIPD brand within Ireland in
an ambassadorial capacity in support of our purpose of 'Championing Better Work
and Working Lives'. Develop a communications strategy for Ireland, including the
development of the Irish digital media strategy.
8. Customer propositions: Develop and deliver propositions for key customer groups
(Chartered Fellows, Members, Associates, Students, Affiliates, HR leaders and
corporate customers), working closely with Members and Markets Operations, based
on market insights, to ensure generic offerings are tailored to meet local Ireland
market needs, and new products and services are developed as required
9. Centres relationship management and development: Manage and deepen the
relationship with educational providers based in Ireland, both as partners and as
channel to existing and potential student members.
10. P&L accountability Ireland: Grow the revenue from membership, sponsorship and
developing and delivering CPD solutions in support of enabling individuals and
organisations to further professionalise HR and L&D.
11. Internal Management: Develop enablers and remove internal barriers to delivering
excellent member customer service in close collaboration with CIPD UK ensuring the
right balance between UK matrix and local delivery.
12. Market knowledge: Develop market insights and share appropriately to inform the
Markets and Members strategy, development of the HR profession in Ireland and to
enhance all customer propositions
13. Team management: Lead, engage, coach and develop the CIPD Ireland team, in
line with strategy and CIPD central HR policies and procedures, to ensure the right
people are in the right roles equipped to deliver the plan


Knowledge, qualifications and experience
This is a senior leadership role within the CIPD.



Graduate calibre / likely to be educated to Masters Degree/MBA level and a chartered
member of CIPD
Experience:
o significant knowledge and experience in HR/L&D (previously holding senior
HR/L&D or Talent/Executive Development role)
o significant experience in creating and growing relationships in a multinational
environment across multiple sectors in Ireland, achieved through successful
relationships within a senior (preferably HR) leader population
o experience in key stakeholder relationships at the most senior levels, including at
board level
o ownership of a P&L with experience of successfully developing and driving
commercial outcomes.
The ideal candidate should have considerable experience of working in Ireland, as well
established networks and relationships at senior levels. A highly effective networker, they
will have experience of engaging at the highest level, both within the HR community, and
with government and other related agencies. The role requires a high degree of flexibility
and willingness to travel within Ireland and abroad.
