Campus Facilities Committee Meeting
February 3, 2012
Present: David Bisett, Joyce Wilkerson, Bill Stone, Carol Dochen, Ralph C. Meyer, Vincent Morton for

City of San Marcos – Jennifer Shell sent a report which David Bisett reviewed with the Committee.
 Aquarena Springs Hike and Bike – estimated construction start March 2012
 Comanche 24” Water Transmission Main – Route crosses Peques north of the Physical Plant
acess drive, includes N. LBJ from Forest Drive to Peachtree Street, and then crosses Chestnut
Street traveling west to the existing Comanche tank. Acquisition of parcels scheduled to go to
the Board of Regents in February. Estimated construction start May/June 2012.
 Downtown Redevelopment – Plans received from all telecoms and being reviewed. Estimated
to begin May/June 2012.
 Loop 82 Overpass – Project to include water quality and a reduction of one at-grade railroad
crossing. Estimated construction to begin 2013.
 N. LBJ Reconstruction – On schedule to begin Fall 2012.
 Sessom-Peques Intersection Realignment – On schedule to begin in 2014.
2012-096 – Deck behind Softball Stadium – The deck is being funded by donors. Club members will
have the ability to use the deck for pre and post games. There were no objections from the committee.
Ms. Nusbaum will secure the appropriate approvals to proceed.
2012-088 – Fence by Stadium and San Marcos Public Housing Authority – Cost estimate is less than
$3,000; an account has been identified to fund the project. There were no objections from the
Committee. Ms. Nusbaum will secure the appropriate approvals to proceed.
Victory Star Replacement - Donations received will go toward replacement of the Victory Star. Electrical
changes are necessary. There is currently $1,000 and funds are still being raised. Facilities will provide a
cost estimate. The President supports this project. Anticipate installing the star in August.
Strahan House – A room code change was submitted for the Strahan House. The Provost approved the
request to change a Service Room to a Media Room.
Housing Renovation Projects – Dr. Proite distributed the list of FY 12 Proposed Housing Renovation
Projects. These are typical fiscal year projects. The list consists of “minor” renovations to be done for the
existing residential buildings. Most of the renovation projects will take place during the summer.
Classroom Improvement Committee - $500,000 is available for summer work to renovate classrooms.
Classrooms, for summer 2013, have been identified by the Committee and Ms. Nusbaum is contacting
Department Chairs/Directors. The final list classrooms will be brought to a future meeting.
Special Projects – Mr. Compton reported 35 projects were completed during the holiday break. He also
reviewed the projects scheduled for Spring Break and distributed a spreadsheet showing the projects
scheduled for completion in August 2012.
Construction Status –
 Alkek Learning Commons – Planning and programming scheduled for the end of the month
 Engineering Building – Reprogramming phase
 Psychology – Programming complete
 West Campus Housing – Design is 10 percent complete
 Bobcat Stadium – 50 percent complete; needs to be complete by 9/8/2012 for Texas Tech Game
 Brogdon Hall – 100 percent complete on Construction Documents
 Center for Research Commercialization – 18 percent complete
 Commons Hall – 4 percent complete
 Electrical Infrastructure – 5 percent complete
 Department of Housing and Residence Life – 16 percent complete
 Lampasas Hall – 30 percent
 North Campus Housing – 85 percent complete
 Performing Arts Center – four components, 10 percent complete
 Nursing Phase 2 – 10 to 20 percent complete
 South Campus Utility – 15 percent complete
 Tomas Rivera – In clean up phase
 Undergraduate Academic Center – 80 percent complete
 Track Relocation – 100 percent complete
