ADVANCED 1 ASIAN LANGUAGES (30 CREDITS) / FLx3430 Component In-Class Test (in scheduled class time, Term 1 Week 12) One test of 1 hour and 30 minutes. % of Total 20% Part 1: Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary & Grammar (50 marks) Reading Comprehension (20 marks) with questions & answers in target language, approx. 400-550 word text(s). Vocabulary & Grammar questions (30 marks). Part 2: Writing (50 marks) One guided writing task out of a choice of 2/3 European languages: 300 words Japanese: 500-600 characters, including 30 Kanji. Mandarin Chinese: 400-500 characters In-Class Listening Test (Term 2 Week 7) 15% Listening Comprehension questions based on 2/3 recordings played twice (45 minutes total) Oral Test (Term 3 Revision Week) Discussion Topic and Conversation. 11-12 minutes per student. 25% There are two parts to the test: Part 1: Discussion Topic (students given 3 topics to prepare in Term 2 Week 10, each student to choose one topic) Part 2: General Conversation A teacher-led conversation with each candidate. Written Examination (organised centrally by the Exams Office in 40% Term 3) 2 hour examination.
