Reading Comprehension (20 marks): with questions & answers in target language.
European languages: Approx. 300-450 word text(s).
Vocabulary & Grammar questions (30 marks).
Part 2: Writing (50 marks)
One guided writing task out of a choice of 2/3
European languages: 250 words
In-Class Listening Test (Term 2 Week 7)

Listening Comprehension questions based on 3/4 recordings played twice (45 minutes)
Oral Test (Term 2 Week 11)

Response to Text and Conversation, 8-9 mins. per student in Term 2 Week 11
There are two parts to the test:
Part 1: Response to Text
3-4 situations or topics from the module selected by tutor and made available to students via
ELE one week in advance in Term 2 Week 10 (Week 9 if 2 weeks required to deliver orals).
Tutor to select input texts & visuals for each topic (this could be 2 short texts or one longer one)
and given to student at random 20 minutes before coming in to room. Students given prompts to
develop the topic in Part 1.
Part 2: Conversation
Tutor-led conversation with each candidate.
Written Examination (organised centrally by the Exams Office in

1 hour 30 minutes examination. As in the In-class Tests, the exam consists of two parts, only
slightly longer and proportionally more complex:

Vocabulary & Grammar questions (30 marks).
