Volcano Research Project
Your task is to find information on a volcano that has erupted in the last 100 years and create a presentation.
You may use PowerPoint, Prezi, or any other platform that will allow you to present to the entire class.
Your presentation must include:
1. Name of volcano
2. Geographic location (country, continent, AND tectonic plate)
3. Name, distance, and population of nearest major city
4. Origin & History: how and when it was formed?
5. Date of most recent eruption and date of most destructive eruption.
6. Other events associated with the last eruption (earthquakes, floods, mudslides, etc)
7. Type of volcano (composite, shield, cinder, lava dome)
8. More than one picture or diagram of the volcano – preferably before, during, and after eruption if
possible.
9. Describe what was seen at this site after the most recent eruption. For example: what happened to the
forestation, the population, etc. Discuss the preparation that was taken prior to the event and what else
could have, or should have, been done to protect nearby populations.
10. Threats and benefits to future eruptions – how might it affect current populations.
