According to IMD Bhubaneswar no rain is expected from 13.12.2014 to 17.12.2014. Sky will remain
mainly cloudy on 13.12.14 and 14.12.14,partly cloudy on 15.12.14 and almost clear from 16.12.14 to
17.12.14.Wind will blow from S-E and S-W direction with speed of 002-005 km/hr. Maximum temperature
will remain around 290C and minimum temperature will be around 12-130C. Maximum RH will vary

Agro met – Advisory Bulletin for Kalahandi District
1. No rain and dry weather will prevail for next five days with partly to mainly cloudy sky on 13.12.14 to 15.12.14.
2. Postponed harvesting of paddy, cotton and other matured crops from 13.12.14 to 14.12.14 as mainly cloudy weather is
expected and continue harvesting of crops after that.Carry out the dry harvest produce to safe place from the field.
3. Prepare the land for sowing mustard, gram, greengram and blackgram in residual moisture immediately after
harvesting paddy as the soil becomes plough able.
4. Go for land preparation and sowing sunflower.
5. Irrigate the crops as per need.
6. Spray with 200lit spray solution for one acre crop area. Start spraying after the dew drops from the leaf during
morning hours or during afternoon hours.
7. Keep watch on aphid infestation in mustard and Dimond Back moth in cabbage.
Kharif paddy:
1. The medium and long duration paddy is at harvesting stage. Drain water from field at maturity stage prior to harvesting.
2. Postponed harvesting of paddy next 2 days upto 14.12.14 and carry out drying, threshing and winnowing of paddy.
Sugarcane:
1. The sugarcane crop is at grand growth (42-44week) stage.
Cotton:
1. Crop is boll maturity to boll bursting stage.
2. There is infestation of sucking pest like white fly, jassid in cotton at this stage. Spray Flonicamid @ 0.3g/lit of water to control the
sucking pests.
3. Postponed plucking of cotton upto 14.12.14 and continue plucking of cotton after that.
Arhar:
1. The crop is at (twenty two to twenty three week) pod development to harvesting stage. Harvest the matured pods.
2. To protect the crop from pod borer spray chloropyriphous 2ml/lit or triazophos 2ml/lit of water.
Niger:
1. The crop is at thirteen to fourteen week seed maturity stage.
Ground nut :
1. The crop is at one to three week vegetative growth stage.
2. Carry out weeding followed by hoeing at three week stage. Provide light light irrigation as dry weather is ahead.
3. Spray Bavistin 2.0g/lit of water for control of Tikka disease at this stage and repeat after 14days of first spray.
Mustard:
1. Sowing is going on. The crop is at one to two week vegetative stage.
2. Keep watch on aphid infestation. Spray imidacloprid @1ml/lit of water for controlling aphids.
3. Alternaria blight occurs at this stage. For controlling this disease spray Indofil M 45@3g/lit of water.
Sunflower :
1. Go for land preparation after harvest of paddy for sowing sunflower.Collect the seeds of sunflower var. DRSF- 108, DRSF- 113,
TNAUSUF-7, Modern etc. @4kg/acre. Sow the seeds with line spacing of 45cm and plant to plant spacing of 30cm. Apply FYM
2ton, 35kg DAP, 3kg urea and 25kg MOP per acre.
2. Use hybrid var. Jwalamukhi, Sungene 85, KBSH-1, KBSH-49, MSFH-1, MSFH- 17, DRSH- 1, Pro sun 09 @ 2kg/acre. ApplyFYM
2ton, 52kg DAP, 20kg urea, 25kg MOP, Boron 4kg/acre and Sulphur 8kg per acre in lines before sowing. Maintain Line spacing of
60cm and plant to plant spacing of 30cm.
3. Irrigate the field for better germination if sown in dry condition or insufficient moisture as dry weather is ahead.
Greengram and Blackgram:
1. The crop is at twelve to thirteen week seed formation to maturity stage.
2. Spray imidacloprid 1ml/4lit water if Yellow mosaic vein occurs. Uproot the crop and destroy by burning in case of severe
infestation.
3. Spray triazophos 2ml/lit of water to control pod borer.
4. Start land preparation for sowing Rabi greengram and Blackgram.Use improved varieties of Blackgram like Sarala, Ujala, Prasada,
T-9, PU-26, PU-30 and Greengram variety TARM-1,Jyoti, Sujata, PDM-54 etc. @8kg/acre.Apply Apply DAP 35kg, Urea 4kg and
MOP 26kg as basal in lines before sowing the seeds for one acre.
Gram:
1.The crop is at germination to 1 week vegetative growth stage.
2. Go for sowing as soon as possible after harvest of paddy in residual soil moisture.
Collect improved variety of seed like Radhey, Moti, GG62, Anegiri etc. @ 20kg seeds per acre. Apply DAP 35kg, Urea 4kg and
MOP 26kg as basal in lines before sowing the seeds for one acre.
Vegetables:
1. The transplanted cabbage, cauliflower and tomato are at five to six week stage. Irrigate the crop as per need as dry weather is
forecasted for next five days.
2. Spray Borax 2g/lit of water in cauliflower at 6-7 week stage for better curd development.
3. Land preparation should be carried out for transplanting onion with 6-8 week seedlings at spacing of 30cm row to row and 10-15cm
plant to plant within the row. Apply 43kg DAP, 27kg urea, 33kg MOP and 20kg sulphur per acre.
Animal Science:
1. The cattle should be vaccinated with intramuscular oil adjuvant FMD vaccine @2ml per one cattle and @1ml per one sheep or goat
as a preventive against FMD during the winter season.
2. The poultry should be vaccinated with R2b strain RD vaccine as a preventive against Ranikhet Disease. It should be administered
@0.5ml per bird subcutaneously with the help of Livestock Inspector.
