A) Special Weather Advisory Bulletin for Dairy and Poultry Farming:
1. For next four days, the sky will be mostly clear and remain dry. Maximum and minimum temperature
will be around 33.0°C (91.4°F) and 22.0°C (71.6°F) respectively. Wind speed will be 4-5 km/hour
mostly from southeast. Relative humidity will be in the range of 55-82 %.
2. For next four days, temperature will remain at lower levels. This will increase the feed intake in layer
chicken thereby increase egg weight and reduce egg shell quality. Hence, based on the feed intake of
birds, adjust the energy level in the feed.
3. Post mortem observations in the birds brought for diagnostic purpose at Poultry Disease Diagnosis and
Surveillance Laboratory, VC & RI, Namakkal revealed death of birds due to wing rot and chronic
respiratory tract infection.
Test feed ingredient for for Clostridium load and use good quality feed
ingredient along with regular bio-security measures.
B) Special Agroadvisory from Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Namakkal:
4. With the prevailing weather conditions, small onion is found to have Thrips problem. This pest sucks
the leaf juices forming white patches in sheaths. To control the pest, spray Triazophos @ 10ml/10 liter
or Profenophos @ 5 ml/ 10 lit of water along with sticking agent.

Agromet advisories in relation to the anticipated weather having moderate cloud cover and moderate humidity
Crop/
Farming
system
Cotton
Stage / Activities
Advisories
Boll opening stage
As dry weather is expected in the coming days apply crop residues or coir pith in
the inter-row space for minimizing loss of soil moisture in cotton in flowering
and boll formation stage during which soil moisture plays a critical role.
As dry weather is expected in the coming days harvest the kapas, dry under
shade and store in a safe place.
Greengram
Sowing
This is the ideal time for sowing greengram under irrigated conditions. Use
Yellow Mosaic Virus resistant varieties like VBN 2, VBN 3 and CO (Gg) 7. Adopt a
seed rate of 20 kg/ ha and spacing of 30 x 10 cm.
For treating the seeds required for one hectare use one packet (200 g) of
rhizobial culture CRM 6, one packet (200 g) of phosphobacteria and one packet
(200 g) of PGPR developed at TNAU. Use rice kanji as binder. If the seed
treatment is not carried out apply 10 packets (2 kg) of phosphobacteria and 10
packets (2 kg) of PGPR with 25 kg of FYM and 25 kg of soil before sowing.
Apply 25: 50: 25 kg NPK/ ha, 20 kg S/ ha and 25 kg zinc sulphate/ ha as basal.
Apply TNAU micronutrient mixture
5 kg/ ha as Enriched FYM. Apply pre-
emergence herbicide pendimethalin 3.3 l/ha on 3rd day after sowing using
backpack sprayer fitted with flat fan nozzle using 500 litres of water for spraying
one ha.
Sugarcane
Tillering stage
As dry weather is expected in the coming days provide irrigation to sugarcane in
the tillering stage.
Chilli
Fruiting stage
As dry weather is expected in the coming days spray 19:19:19 @ 1% for the chilli
crop at flowering and fruiting stage in order to meet the nutrient requirements.
SMS: Rain: 3rd& 4th Feb: 3& 8 mm, respectively. Greengram- sowing: Varieties- VBN 2, VBN 3, CO(Gg)7; seed rate
20 kg/ha; spacing 30x10 cm.
