Duties & Responsibilities: Diversified work requiring analytical ability, making basic decisions,
creating new protocols and independent thinking where accepted
procedures, practice or precedent are not always available or apply.
Must have good knowledge of different chemical, microbiological,
physical and rheological testing of food products, methodologies and
instruments. Must be able to research and understand different types
of instruments, validation tests and protocols, interpret data and make
logical recommendations. This individual must have experience in
food safety programs, specifically in cleaning and sanitation
procedures and methods. Must also have knowledge in chemicals and
sanitizers, swabbing protocols and applying information for effective
cleaning and sanitation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the
following. Other duties may be assigned.









Conducts all necessary physical and chemical tests on food
products with minimal supervision, or outsources them
whenever appropriate.
Handles microbiological testing of products or packaging
materials by outsourcing the most feasible way.
Maintains, cleans and calibrates all lab equipments, and
conducts validation tests.
Researches and identifies appropriate instrumentation for the
analytical lab and recommends purchases.
Documents, reviews and interprets data, conducts data trend
analysis. Creates written reports and recommendations for
R&D.
Creates and maintains Analytical Lab Manual and other
related procedures.
Creates and implements Chemical Safety Program for the
Analytical Lab.
Writes Analytical Lab SOPs and ELTC SSOPs and handles
change management in these documents. Prepares and updates
Food Safety Manual and the MSDSs.
Creates a "new equipment on-boarding" process to ensure
appropriate equipment sanitation.






Contributes to testing designs
Direct the daily work of sanitation technicians and inspects
for cleanliness.
Creates and maintains Master Sanitation Schedule and makes
sure that it is being followed effectively.
Trains R&D, Culinary, Engineering and the sanitation
technicians on cleaning, sanitation, food safety, GMPs and
other related topics
Manages sanitation chemicals inventory
Member of the ELTC Safety Team
This job has no supervisory responsibilities

Qualifications:
Minimum of an Associates of Science Degree required.
Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry or a related
science field preferred.
Two years training/experience in a science analytical lab required.
Basic food safety, cleaning and sanitation knowledge is preferred.
Previous team leadership and experience/training in a food analytical
lab is preferred.
Must have the ability to effectively communicate feedback, test
results and project progress status via written memos. Must be able to
read and interpret technical procedures and present information to the
R&D group.
Above basic mathematical skills. Must have a knowledge,
understanding and application of means, and standard deviation.
Capability of solving for unknowns in a mathematical equation.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and Power
Point. Knowledge of SAP or similar integrated software and
Documentum or similar document retention software. Must have the
ability to download data from the internet. Proficiency in Minitab or
other statistical software and Genesis software systems preferred.
Ability to create charts and graphs suitable for presentations and
reports.
Interaction with suppliers, academia, institutions and R&D project
team requires tact and judgment to maintain effective relationships.
Must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment .
Requires exercise of personal influence. Must be willing to work a
flexible schedule on other shifts as necessary.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out
instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to
deal with problems involving several concrete variables in
standardized situations.
