Action for clean water redcross.org.uk/education What do we use water for? Meet Brenda Did you know? 884 million people in the world lack access to safe water. That’s about 1 in every 8 people. Did you know? In many developing countries, women and girls walk on average over 3.5 miles each day to fetch water. Women often spend more than 15 hours per week collecting water. Did you know? More than 3.4 million people die each year from harmful water, sanitation and hygiene-related causes. That’s more than the entire population of Wales. Did you know? A person in the UK taking a five minute shower uses more water than the average person in a developing country uses for an entire day.
