The Parent Leadership Training Institute (PLTI) is a national family
civics model, with a 20-year track record in increasing civic engagement
of parents by providing parents the knowledge and tools to expand
parental involvement in local decision-making.
The next PLTI course will start in Fall 2015 and will include:



Becoming familiar with city, school, county, state, and federal law
Understanding public policy and budgets
Assessing and defining community problems

Creating new networks between parents of different education
levels, economic levels, social backgrounds, and geography.

20-week class, starts in the fall of 2015 and ends April 2016.
Using a tested curriculum, the Institute has graduated 58 parents (18 in
2013, 19 in 2014, 21 in 2015) from Rochester, Greece, Brighton, and
Irondequoit.
The class is taught by team of 3 credentialed, high quality facilitators;
community leaders and experts visit as guest speakers.
Individual projects are developed and completed by each participant
Parents and caregivers of all income levels, education levels, and race &
ethnicities from the Rochester, Brighton, Irondequoit, and Greece school
districts.
Parents who are interested apply. Every applicant receives an
interview.
Family dinner & child care is provided for children ages 3-12 years;
transportation is provided as needed.
There is an active PLTI Alumni group; support is provided to graduates.
Dinner and child care provided every week.
