We will share and celebrate home learning every Friday afternoon. Journey to the sea... 1. Find out how a river gets from its source to the sea. Include - its name - its length - its depth - where its source is - which sea it flows into - which countries it passes through - important events in history that have happened on or near the river. Use the website tinyurl.com/y3severnbore to find out what The Severn Bore is and when it happens. You could ask an adult to take you to see it after school or on a weekend day. If you are lucky enough to go to see the Bore, wear suitable warm clothes and outdoor shoes/boots. Find a safe place to watch and stay with an adult at all times. If you aren’t able to see the Severn Bore, you could use swiggle.org.uk to search for information, videos and pictures of it. When you have found out all you need to know, write a paragraph of information about the Bore. Time to complete activity – 2 weeks That’s not my mummy! Design and draw an Ancient Egyptian mummy case. Time to complete activity – 2 weeks. River deep... Ask your family to think of as many songs as they can with the word ‘river’ in – there are more than you might think! Write a list of the song titles and artists and listen to some of them. Which is your favourite, and why? Find out three fascinating facts about Ancient Egypt, and use these facts to write three multiple choice quiz questions! You can bring these into school and test your class mates’ knowledge of Ancient Egypt. Remember to use question marks! Time to complete activity – 1 week.
