National Institute of Industrial Property, Brazil (BR) Project: C483 Subject: Plant reproduction by tissue culture techniques IPC: A01H5/00 Action: Rapporteur Proposal Date: 01/10/15 Ref. annexes: 1-7 We would like to thank US, EP, CN and DE for their support and comments. We understand that all Offices are in favour of creating a scheme ruled by plant taxonomy. It would be beneficial for classification and search. Regarding US proposal, as DE expressed, it is indeed quite big. We agree with DE when it comes with the number of groups created. We don’t think that the scheme needs to go so deep in details. We also noticed that US proposal organizes the scheme in alphabetical order. Indeed, if several groups are created, we don’t see the need of separating them in dicotyledons and monocotyledons. Regarding EP proposal, we agree about creating new subgroups to incorporate the taxonomy plants. However, we think that it could be cumbersome to have two main groups in the main scheme about flowering plants, making obligatory classification in both groups. Therefore, we suggest introducing the taxonomy plants as subgroups under current A01H5/00 and creating an indexing scheme based on plant parts, e.g. A01H105/00 (with the current IPC groups). We have the opinion that this indexing scheme doesn’t need to be obligatory. Finally, in our proposal, as follows, we maintained just the one dot groups of the US proposal, including some of its subgroups as examples, respectively. Type IPC N Dots A01H5/00 Title N A01H5/02 • Angiosperms, i.e. flowering plants Note In this group, it is desirable to add the indexing code of group A01H105/00, relating to the plant parts. 1 Amaranthaceae; Chenopodiaceae, e.g. beet and spinach N A01H5/04 • 1 Amaryllidaceae, e.g. onion N A01H5/06 • 1 Apiaceae, e.g. celery and carrot N A01H5/08 • 1 Apocynaceae, e.g. Madagascar periwinkle N A01H5/10 • 1 Aroideae, e.g. zantedeschia N A01H5/12 • 1 Asparagaceae, e.g. hosta N A01H5/14 • 1 Asteraceae [Compositae], e.g. safflower, sunflower, artichoke and lettuce N A01H5/16 • 1 Begoniaceae, e.g. begonia N A01H5/18 • 1 Balsaminaceae, e.g. impatiens N A01H5/20 • 1 Brassicaceae, e.g. canola, broccoli and rucola N A01H5/22 • 1 Bromeliaceae N A01H5/24 • 1 Cactaceae, e.g. cactus and Easter cactus N A01H5/26 • 1 Campanulaceae N A01H5/28 • 1 Cannabaceae, e.g. cannabis N A01H5/30 • 1 Caryophyllaceae N A01H5/32 • 1 Crassulaceae N A01H5/34 • 1 Cucurbitaceae, e.g. bitter melon, cucumber and watermelon N A01H5/36 • 1 Ericaceae, e.g. azalea, cranberry and blueberry N A01H5/38 • 1 Euphorbiaceae, e.g. poinsettia N A01H5/40 • 1 Gentianaceae, e.g. exacum N A01H5/42 • 1 Geraniaceae, e.g. geranium N A01H5/44 • 1 Gesneriaceae , e.g. African violet N A01H5/46 • 1 Gramineae [Poaceae], e.g. ryegrass, rice, wheat and maize N A01H5/48 • 1 Hydrangeacae, e.g. hydrangea N A01H5/50 • 1 Laminaceae, e.g. lavender, mint and chia N A01H5/52 • 1 Lauraceae, e.g. avocado N A01H5/54 • 1 Leguminosae [Fabaceae], e.g. soybean, alfalfa and peanut N A01H5/56 • 1 Liliaceae, e.g. alstroemeria and lilium N A01H5/58 • 1 Linaceae, e.g. flax N A01H5/60 • 1 Malvaceae , e.g. cotton and hibiscus N A01H5/62 • 1 Orchidaceae, e.g. orchids N A01H5/64 • 1 Papaveraceae, e.g. poppy N A01H5/66 • 1 Pedaliaceae, e.g. sesame N A01H5/68 • 1 Plantaginaceae, e.g. antirrhinum N A01H5/70 • 1 Polemoniaceae, e.g. phlox N N A01H5/72 • N A01H5/74 • N A01H5/76 • 1 Ranunculaceae, e.g. clematis Rosaceae, e.g. strawberry, apple, almonds, pear, rose, blackberries and 1 raspberries 1 Rubiaceae, e.g. pentas N A01H5/78 • 1 Rutaceae, e.g. lemons or limes N A01H5/80 • 1 Saxifragaceae, e.g. heuchera N A01H5/82 • 1 Solanaceae, e.g. pepper, tobacco, potato, tomato and eggplant N A01H5/84 • 1 Urticaceae, e.g. ramie N A01H5/86 • 1 Verbenaceae, e.g. verbena N A01H5/88 • 1 Vitaceae, e.g. vitus [grape] Type IPC Dots N Title Indexing scheme associated with group A01H6/00, relating to plant parts.
