ICT NETWORK MANAGER BOWER GROVE SCHOOL NAME: JOB TITLE: ICT Network Manager SALARY STRUCTURE: Kent Range 7 (Dependent on experience) Plus SEN point HOURS: 8am – 4:30pm during term time plus 2 weeks in school holidays (Some flexibility with hours will be required) LINE MANAGER: Deputy Headteacher PURPOSE OF JOB To provide an essential service to staff and pupils by managing the school’s ICT networks and supporting the development and delivery of ICT across the curriculum throughout the main school and the primary satellite provision. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES Line Manager to the ICT Technician Liaise closely with the Leadership Team Responsible for managing and controlling all technical aspects of the installation, configuration, operation, maintenance and development of the school’s ICT hardware, software and network infrastructure including: o Servers (curriculum, administration, print, telephone) o Internet access, cache, filter and router o Wired and wireless network devices and network switches o Network and data security (including anti-virus protection) o System performance o Network infrastructure DHCP, TCP/IP etc o Workstations and mobile devices o Software o Cabling to network devices o Networked printing devices o Interactive whiteboards and projectors o Telephone system o Email system o Door access system o Website design and upkeep Develop and implement an effective backup and disaster recovery strategy to ensure against loss of data through error, abuse, malfunction or disaster. Ensure the efficient running of all servers, computers and peripherals throughout the school and develop a maintenance schedule. Resolve ICT problems reported by staff, referring to external support organisations where necessary and keeping staff informed of progress with solutions. Document1 Manage the school’s ICT budget and be responsible for the pricing and procurement of ICT devices, software, repairs and contracts. This includes sourcing prices from suppliers and completing order forms as appropriate. Maintain the school’s IT inventory. Develop and maintain a schedule for the replacement of ICT equipment throughout the school. Ensure that ICT equipment and workstations meet the requirements of health and safety legislation and are maintained in a secure, clean and safe manner. Maintain all necessary records and documentation including network maps and inventories and details of licences, warranties and equipment checks as necessary. Monitor the school’s Securus software and ensure E-Safety is upheld throughout the school. Be available at the school on the day preceding GCSE exam results day in August and on the results day itself and ensure all systems are fully operational. Arrange for the collection and/or secure disposal of old equipment. Upgrade relevant systems out of normal business hours to ensure minimum downtime for staff during critical periods. Perform a wide range of hardware repairs and upgrades and maintain hardware and software on the servers. Detect, diagnose and resolve most PC, printer and peripheral device faults. Identify and install essential software patches. Set disk space and printer quotas. Create network shares and manage access rights. Plan and implement installation of PCs, printers, interactive whiteboards, projectors and other network and ICT devices. Plan for major developments of the ICT service and project manage their implementation. Ensure ICT throughout the school is best value and fit for purpose. Deliver training to school staff and support teaching staff and pupils in technical aspects of ICT. GENERAL Take a full part in the school’s annual appraisal process. Attend fortnightly meetings with a member of the Leadership Team.
