Extraction of BKC from shrimp with a high recovery rate
Quick ELISA assay - Less than 1 hour regardless of number of samples
High reproducibility
The MaxSignal ® Benzalkonium Chloride ELISA Test Kit is the only competitive enzyme immunoassay available for the quantitative analysis of benzalkonium chloride in shrimp.
The MaxSignal Benzalkonium Chloride ELISA Test Kit uses a competitive colorimetric ELISA assay. Benzalkonium Chloride (BKC) antibody has been coated in the plate wells. During analysis, sample is added along with the BKC-horseradish peroxidase (BKC-HRP) conjugate. If BKC residue is present in the sample, it will compete for the BKC antibody, thereby preventing the BKC-HRP from binding to the antibody attached to the well. The resulting color intensity, after addition of the HRP substrate (TMB), has an inverse relationship with the BKC residue concentration in the sample.
BKC, also known as alkyldimethylbenzylammonium chloride and ADBAC, is a cationic surface-acting agent belonging to the quaternary ammonium group.
Benzalkonium chloride solutions are fast-acting biocidal agents with a moderately long duration of action. They are active against bacteria and some viruses, fungi, and protozoa, but are also highly toxic to fish and aquatic invertebrates.
This kit is manufactured to the international quality standard ISO 9001:2008. ISO CI#: SARA-2009-CA-0114-A
The MaxSignal Benzalkonium chloride ELISA Test Kit has the capacity for 96 determinations or testing of 42 samples in duplicate (assuming 12 wells for standards). The shelf life is 12 months when the kit is properly stored.
