Teachers check for signatures daily. Parent Volunteers: If you are planning on volunteering in the classroom or on any class field trips, please fill out your volunteer application ASAP. Applications can be found on the CBPA website; background checks also need to be filled out online. Two-weeks advance notice for field trips is necessary so background checks can be completed. FINDING SPELLING LISTS ONLINE: This year, the school district will NOT be emailing families a weekly spelling schedule. Beginning this fall, the district will just be posting the schedule each week on the district website. Here is a link to take you directly to the spelling page for Grades 1-5: http://www.anoka.k12.mn.us/Page/19180 Normally, the list will be found under the left side navigation bar. To find the spelling pages without the link: begin by going to district homepage or CBPA site. On the top blue toolbar, find ‘Academics.’ In the drop-down, select ‘Grade Level and Course Info.’ From there, follow the left side navigation bar and find, “Spelling Lists and Schedules for Grades 1-5.” That should lead you to the page we have linked above. We will be celebrating fall on Friday, October 30th with an afternoon of fall fun. Please remember NO COSTUMES on October 30th for the fall party. Thank you to all the parent volunteers who are helping with the fall parties. The fourth grade Typing Club starts next week. We will be practicing typing skills 3 times a week for the next 6 weeks. The students can practice at home as well. Students have access to this program from home through the lock and key button found on the AH and CBPA homepage. They will log in with their Google passwords found in the front of their planners. We encourage students to practice at home during the next 6 weeks. We are starting a “Word of the Week”. We will be learning about this word in both Humanities and inquiry. Please practice using the word STRATEGY at home this week. Next week our word of the week will be QUALITY. Picture retake: Any students who would like to take a retake, please make sure to return their packages on retake day to the photographer; the photographers need to scan the packages into their cameras to ensure the family gets their new packages correctly. We will be meeting with the Naturalists here at CBPA in the next two weeks. The 4th graders will be learning about Soil and doing a lab called, Soil Samples. We are going to be going to the Jackson Middle School (JMS) Observatory during class on Thursday, Nov 5th and Friday, November 6th.
