DICOM Working Group Twenty-four December 3, 2014 Page 1 2. Reference Coordinate System Leonard went over the presentation “Reference Coordinate System”. The presentation is posted in the ftp folder of WG-24for the references. Philips group will no longer create a document on how to use DICOM’s existing definition of coordinate systems and apply it consistently to use-cases. Philips will no longer draft a Correction Proposal via the Work Group mailing list. It will not happen because the Philips folks were pulled out form DICOM and that means the action item for Lenny. During the presentation the following question was brought up: “Does the DICOM Standard contain sufficiently robust and diverse material to support a Reference Coordinate Standard for the Surgical setting, which goes beyond registration of two images?” and the answer is yes. There is a need for correction proposal for clarification which is an additional information text which does not change, but facilitates, the interpretation of the Standard. Another question was if the reference coordinate system should be based on the current standards (IODs and SOPs) for display, based on Cartesian coordinates. Will handle: • 1-D – Vectors • 2-D – Images • 3-D – Volumetric models • 4-D – changes over time • Will handle 2-D and 3-D imaging formats • Will provide spatial orientation and scale A draft of a Correction Proposal (Clarification) will be presented in the appropriate format and terminology at the WG24 meeting in Barcelona of June 2015. It will be sent out for review by WG24 Committee members After review, revision and acceptance by WG 24, will be submitted to WG6 for review 3. Angiography Video Existing DICOM Standards for Video A number of DICOM Supplements have been developed by Working Group 13 (Visible Light) that can provide the necessary DICOM documents to provide for video formats. Supplement 42: MPEG2 Transfer Syntax Supplement 47: Visible Light Video Supplement 137: MPEG2 MP@HL Transfer Syntax Supplement 149: MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 Transfer Syntax Supplement 180: MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 Transfer Syntax DICOM Working Group Twenty-four December 3, 2014 Page 2 Review of the DICOM standards shows that standards are well defined for MPEG2 and MPEG4. Whether or not video is used for angiography is a clinical and commercial decision. The DICOM standards are adequate. 4. Development of a new IOD for the results of “Fibertracking” – Sven’s presentation (Supplement for a discussion during the WG-06 meeting in January 12-16, 2015) 5. Action Items Draft a white paper on IHE surgery group. Introduce IHE group to WG-24, and see if these two groups can have a meeting together. Election Industry Co-Chair and Secretary 6.
