2. I can use scientific inquiry/experimentation skills to investigate the properties of
mixtures and solutions and the factors that affect the solubility of a substance and the
rate at which substances dissolve.
3. I can investigate processes used for separating different mixtures.
4. I can use appropriate science vocabulary (mechanical mixture, solution, solute, insoluble,
saturated, unsaturated, dilute, etc.) in oral and written communication.

Important Reminders:
When I miss a day at school, I am responsible for reviewing missed lessons. I can do this be
going on our Class website (swillis.commons.hwdsb.on.ca) and downloading the lesson to
review. I can obtain missed hand-outs from the extra copies bin. I can also ask a classmate to
review the lesson with me. I understand that this is important as we learn many new concepts
and vocabulary in science.
If I do not understand a concept it is important I ask for help. There are also anchor charts to
help keep my notes in order and to keep track of lessons as well as the class blog.
How responsible I am in keeping up with my work directly affects how successful I will be in my
learning.
