conference continues to grow and deliver important and dynamic information, as well as offering an excellent
networking opportunity to all participants.
This year’s conference will focus on person-centered care within the context of the five pillars of the provincial
mental health and addictions strategy, Open Minds, Healthy Minds.
Some elements of person-centered care include:





respecting the person’s values and putting the person at the center of care
ensuring people have access to the right care when they need it
ensuring continuity between and within services

making sure people are physically comfortable and safe; emotional support
involving family and friends
This is by no means a comprehensive list. Your workshop may address any of these or any other topic relating
to person-centered care.
Your workshop should convey evidence informed practices, experience or “perspectives” on providing high
quality, effective, integrated, culturally competent, person-directed services and supports for individuals with
mental illnesses and addictions, their families and caregivers.
In addition, the presentation should address how persons with lived experience are involved in the planning or
practice that is the subject of the presentation. It should also include the ways in which knowledge transfer is
implemented.
We will also continue to select presentations that inform strategies and practices to address leadership skill
building, governance, service integration, financial and human resource needs, health care policy and
transformation, quality and data improvement, knowledge mobilization and capacity.
