Notre Dame Club of Atlanta Board Meeting January 31, 2005 Meeting Notes Attendees: Bob Splude, Rose Carroll, Todd Stroup, Tim Thilman, Tanya Walker, Helen Collins, Jim Collins, Maria Mucha, Amanda McHugh, Pat Wirtz, Chris Kocks, Tony Suber, Kevin McHugh, Lauren Elizabeth President's Message & Board Transition – Bob outlined the year ahead and discussed the open board positions and VP position. We discussed increasing the number of board positions; although, we would need to change the bylaws to be consistent. Nominations for Board Positions – nominations were made for Tony Suber for VP, Bob Splude for Board, more… Financial Report – we have roughly $4k in the bank. Anticipate expenses for Omni hotel deposit, summer service student payment, alumni senate, and membership mailings. Income expected from GT game sponsorship and membership dues. Treasurer Transition - Eileen has begun the Treasurer transition to Doug. Doug needs to be added to the account. Membership & Events Calendar – reviewed and edited the calendar for the year. Calendar was approved. Website Updates – website updates were identified for the calendar, home page, and contacts pages. GT Game Weekend Update – Kevin and Amanda provided the update. Marketing and sponsorship are right on target. Need to keep cranking on the tailgate, pep rally, and other events. Tailgate location is set for the GT Aquatic Center and evaluating catering. Pep rally working on guest speakers, band, cheerleaders, etc. Ticket Exchanges and Visiting Clubs – did not cover BA ND Update – Tanya provided the update. Transition of leadership to ____. Events focus on HOA and Fall Affair. Young Alums – Pat provided the update. Considering Thrashers game for event. Continue with happy hours. Alumni Senate – Bob provided the update. Bob and Rose will attend alumni senate. Chris will also try to attend. Tanya expressed possible interest also. Use opportunity to promote the GT game and learn from other clubs. Summer Service Student – Bob provided update. We will try to make a half payment for the remaining balance for the summer service student program later this year. #1 I spoke with the Adrea Smith Shappel at the Center for Social Concerns and David Rocchio at the Georgia Justice Project and we will be using that location again for the summer service project. I told Andrea we will again house the student in alumni homes to avoid additional costs for meals. We did give a lunch allowance last year. I will be getting a start & end date for the student soon and will then solicit hosts through the newsletter. UND Night – Update provided by Maria, Helen, Bob. Dan Saracino will be our administration guest. We will stick with a brunch format this year. Voices of Faith – Update provided by Bob. Visiting vocal group will need housing. St. Patrick’s Day Parade – Request from a senior alum to increase presence in parade with a float. A float would cost roughly $2k. We are looking for possible sponsorship. ND Tax Assistance Program – Feb – Jim Webster is coordinating preparation meetings in Feb and March. Peach State Putt-Putt Tournament – Tony will head up the putt-putt tourney again this year. Tim Thilman volunteered to help coordinate. GT ticket auction – promote this as a significant benefit for club members. Regional Alumni Representative - Rose checked with the alumni association and the term for our region 15 director, Phil Carter, end his term July 2008. So we have some time to think about finding a local candidate to promote. Next Meeting – Tuesday, April ??? (I left my notes at the office and will look on Wed)
