The month of April 2010 will be declared Art and Health month in the Twin Cities
(Gary is working on having the mayors make this declaration)_
All arts, health and healing groups, institutions and organizations in the area will
be encouraged to mount a show, conduct open-houses, produce productions, offer
workshops, create materials etc.
These events are primarily for the local general public (though there may be some
audience-specific events. They will be so noted in the listings
It will be important to have free events and activities as well as those supported by
fees.
These events will culminate in the national conference at the end of April
The events and the conference will raise awareness about the work being done in
this area and the importance of the arts in health and healing. It will also promote
the participating organizations and raise awareness about their existence as well as
their work.
The primary tasks of this group are to:
 Identify participating groups
 Encourage participation
 Coordinate neighborhoods of artists
 Facilitate activities at home institutions
 Act as advocates in the community for the events and activities
 Be ambassadors for art and health wherever and whenever possible
After discussion it was decided that he working name of the month-long event is “Art
and Health: A Community Celebration”

Bob offered a work flow sheet (attached) for further discussion

Gary offered the first activity to be part of the Art and Health celebration – a gallery
show at the Boynton Health Center featuring local artists creating works about art and
health.
