Attention all those interested in acting, improv, drama, backstage or on stage, Forensics and lovers of
anything theatre: The Performing Arts Department will be having a 1st of the year "Kick-Off"
Informational Meeting today (9/16) in the auditorium from 2:30 till 4pm. See Mr. Barrett for further
details.

Kalamazoo Central Music Department will present the musical "IN THE HEIGHTS" the 2nd and 3rd
weekends in November. Auditions for "IN THE HEIGHTS" are today, Thursday, & Friday, from 6:00
until 9:00 PM, in the Auditorium. Please see Mrs. Johnson, in the choir room, for audition information.

Hispanic Heritage Month fact: Today is Mexican Independence Day! On September 16th, 1810, Father
Hidalgo rallied the people with a speech known as ‘El Grito de Delores’, and told the people “Viva
Mexico’, and ‘Viva la independencia’. The fight for independence began, and the Mexicans went to
war against the Spanish. The Mexican people continued their fight for eleven years and finally gained
their independence.

Would you like a leadership role within your class? If you are interested in becoming your class
president, vice president, secretary or treasurer, please see your class adviser for more information
and a nomination form.
Freshmen advisers are Ms. Comrack (room 355) and Ms. Curry (counseling office).
Sophomore advisers are Ms. Fullerton (room 349) and Ms. Bowden (room 247).
Junior advisers are Ms. Lee (room 237) and Ms. K (room 220).
Senior advisers are Ms. Brower (room 359) and Ms. McKenzie (room 228).
All nomination forms need to be submitted to your class adviser today (9/16)!

proud to announce Kalamazoo Central's very own Magic the Gathering Club. We meet Thursdays,
right after school in room 342.

FCCLA's first chapter meeting will be this Friday from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. in room 406. All new and
returning members are encouraged to attend!

Are you interested in representing your class as a member of the Homecoming Court? Homecoming
is next week, so if you are interested in running for court, please see your class adviser for a
nomination form. Forms are due next Monday the 21st so don’t delay!

Good Morning GIANTS!!!! Picture day is Tuesday September 22nd. If you don't have a picture
packet, you may stop by office 351 (on the third floor) to retrieve one. Be ready to smile BIG!!!!!
ATHLETICS

Anyone thinking about wrestling this winter, the wrestling team will start after school lifting and open
mat workouts starting next Tuesday Sept 22 at 3:00-4:30. This is open to anyone thinking about
wrestling this year and will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00-4:30, starting out in the weight
room.

All boys who are interested in playing basketball and who are not playing a fall sport, conditioning
will be on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:00- 4:15 and open gym will be on Tuesdays and
Thursdays from 6pm-8pm. Please meet today in front of the gymnasium. If you have any questions,
please see Coach Nichols in the AGA room.

Those of you interested in meeting with colleges, here are a few dates to keep in mind for the near
future. Be sure you get a pass from the counseling office before school, after school or at lunch the
day before the visit.
Tuesday, September 22nd - Ferris State, 1 PM
Wednesday, September 23rd - WMU, 9 AM and Hillsdale College, 1 PM
Friday, September 25th – Valparaiso, 1 PM
Wednesday, September 30th - Hope College, 1 PM

Mark your calendars! The Homecoming dance will be NEXT Friday (September 25th) at 9pm. Guest
passes will be available in Mr. Gardner’s office and Mr. Patterson’s office beginning today. Guest
passes are due no later than the Wednesday before the dance (September 23 rd).

Just a reminder that Homecoming Court nomination forms are due TODAY to your class adviser!
Don’t forget! Voting will take place on Wednesday during 2nd period classes.

Are you interested in being a part of Friday’s pep assembly? There are several games and
competitions you can participate in – see your class adviser to sign up!

And as a reminder: Students staying after school must be in a classroom, in tutoring, or with an
athletic coach by 2:30 or you will be asked to leave the building. Again, if you are not in a
designated area by 2:30 you will be escorted out of the building.
