For today’s Hispanic Heritage fact: There are roughly 54 million Hispanics in the U.S., making them
the nation’s second-largest racial or ethnic group. They represent 17 percent of the U.S. population,
up from 5 percent in 1970.

FCCLA's first chapter meeting will be today from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. in room 406. All new and
returning members are encouraged to attend!

Are you interested in representing your class as a member of the Homecoming Court? Homecoming
is next week, so if you are interested in running for court, please see your class adviser for a
nomination form. Forms are due on Monday so don’t delay!

Good Morning GIANTS!!!! Picture day is on Tuesday (9/22). If you don't have a picture packet, you
may stop by office 351 (on the third floor) to retrieve one. Be ready to smile BIG!!!!!

Those of you interested in meeting with colleges, here are a few dates to keep in mind for the near
future.
Tuesday, September 22nd - Ferris State, 1 PM
Wednesday, September 23rd - WMU, 9 AM and Hillsdale College, 1 PM
Friday, September 25th – Valparaiso, 1 PM
Wednesday, September 30th - Hope College, 1 PM

Mark your calendars! The Homecoming dance will be NEXT Friday (September 25th) at 9pm. Guest
passes will be available in Mr. Gardner’s office and Mr. Patterson’s office beginning today. Guest
passes are due no later than the Wednesday before the dance (September 23 rd).
ATHLETICS
9/18
ALL FOOTBALL AND VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS: If it is raining at dismissal today, this will be your plan.
Varsity football will walk through in the auxiliary gym, no shoes. Freshman and JV football will go
home at dismissal. All 3 volleyball teams will practice in the main gym. Any questions, ask in the
athletic office.
9/16-18
Anyone thinking about wrestling this winter, who are not already in a fall sport, the wrestling team
will start after school lifting and open mat workouts starting next Tuesday Sept 22 at 3:00-4:30. This
is open to anyone thinking about wrestling this year and will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays
from 3:00-4:30, starting out in the weight room.

If anyone tried out for a fall sports team and didn’t make the cut, your parents can pick up your
insurance refund in the athletic office. If your parent wants you to pick it up you will have to have a
note signed by your parent.

There has been a change to the volleyball and tennis schedules for next week. All games scheduled
for Wednesday the 23rd will now be played on Tuesday the 22nd. Again, Volleyball at Norrix and
tennis at home against Mattawan will all be played on Tuesday the 22nd.

Are you interested in being a part of Friday’s pep assembly? There are several games and
competitions you can participate in – see your class adviser to sign up!

And as a reminder: Students staying after school must be in a classroom, in tutoring, or with an
athletic coach by 2:30 or you will be asked to leave the building. Again, if you are not in a
designated area by 2:30 you will be escorted out of the building.
