2012 Homecoming Royalty
Nomination Packet
Important Information & Dates:
Student organizations, university departments, faculty, staff, contract professionals and
administrators may nominate one male for Royalty/King and/or one female for
Royalty/Queen (nominations are taken individually, not as a couple.)
Nominations are due Tuesday, September 11, 2012 by 5pm to the Student Union Information Center.
A $30.00 application fee per nominee is required at the time the completed application is returned to the Student Union
Information Center. The nonrefundable fee covers the cost of the candidate’s dance ticket, game flowers for the court, a
meal and photographs. Checks can be made payable to The University of Akron and university requisitions are accepted.
Candidates must be fully admitted to The University of Akron, have at least a 2.5 accumulative grade point average (GPA)
and have completed 96 credit hours (32 credit hours for students in an Associate Degree program) at The University of
Akron as of September 11, 2012. A grade waiver permitting GPA verification is included in this application, and must be
signed and returned with the nomination form. (Ineligible candidates will be notified about their status by 5pm Wednesday,
September 12, 2012)
Note: If you are interested in running but do not meet the established criteria as outlined in the application packet an
opportunity for you to submit an appeal for review of your qualifications is being offered. No appeals will be granted to
reconsider the student in good standing or GPA requirements as stated. Should you wish to submit an appeal for review it
must be received along with the complete application and a one page only correspondence explaining the rationale of
your appeal by the deadline stated above. Your appeal will be considered by the Appeals Committee and you will receive
notification by 5pm Wednesday, September 12, 2012.
Elections to the Homecoming Royalty will be Wednesday, September 19th (opening at 8am) thru Monday, September
24th, 2012 (Closing at Noon) on the web at www.uakron.edu/vote. Eight (8) men and eight (8) women will be elected
Homecoming Royalty, from which one man and one woman will be selected as Homecoming King and Queen via an
interview/presentation process.

IMPORTANT: If selected for the homecoming Royalty, all finalists must sign up for a Fifteen (15) minute
presentation/interview time. The sign-up sheet will be available from 5 PM - 11 PM on Monday, September 24th, 2012 at
the Student Union Information Desk, if you are unable to sign up when you receive your call. You may also call

2012 Homecoming Royalty Candidate Agreement
I give my permission to the Department of Student Life to check and verify both my accumulative grade point
average and the number of credit hours that I have completed at The University of Akron (prior to Fall
Semester 2012) for the purpose of verifying eligibility to participate in the Homecoming Royalty process. I
understand that I must be fully admitted to and have completed at least 96 credit hours at The University of
Akron (32 credit hours for students in an Associate Degree program) and have at least a 2.5 accumulative
grade point average when this criteria is verified on Tuesday, September 11, 2012.
I also understand and agree that I will attend all of the specified 2012 Homecoming activities as outlined in the
Homecoming Royalty Nomination Packet in order to be on the September ballot, to be elected to the
Homecoming Royalty and to be considered for the 2012 Homecoming King or Queen.
