2012 Homecoming Royalty Nomination Packet Important Information & Dates: Student organizations, university departments, faculty, staff, contract professionals and administrators may nominate one male for Royalty/King and/or one female for Royalty/Queen (nominations are taken individually, not as a couple.) Nominations are due Tuesday, September 11, 2012 by 5pm to the Student Union Information Center. A $30.00 application fee per nominee is required at the time the completed application is returned to the Student Union Information Center. The nonrefundable fee covers the cost of the candidate’s dance ticket, game flowers for the court, a meal and photographs. Checks can be made payable to The University of Akron and university requisitions are accepted. Candidates must be fully admitted to The University of Akron, have at least a 2.5 accumulative grade point average (GPA) and have completed 96 credit hours (32 credit hours for students in an Associate Degree program) at The University of Akron as of September 11, 2012. A grade waiver permitting GPA verification is included in this application, and must be signed and returned with the nomination form. (Ineligible candidates will be notified about their status by 5pm Wednesday, September 12, 2012) Note: If you are interested in running but do not meet the established criteria as outlined in the application packet an opportunity for you to submit an appeal for review of your qualifications is being offered. No appeals will be granted to reconsider the student in good standing or GPA requirements as stated. Should you wish to submit an appeal for review it must be received along with the complete application and a one page only correspondence explaining the rationale of your appeal by the deadline stated above. Your appeal will be considered by the Appeals Committee and you will receive notification by 5pm Wednesday, September 12, 2012. Elections to the Homecoming Royalty will be Wednesday, September 19th (opening at 8am) thru Monday, September 24th, 2012 (Closing at Noon) on the web at www.uakron.edu/vote. Eight (8) men and eight (8) women will be elected Homecoming Royalty, from which one man and one woman will be selected as Homecoming King and Queen via an interview/presentation process.
