WANTAGH HIGH SCHOOL HOSTS FRESHMAN ORIENTATION Hundreds of eager new high school students filed in to the auditorium Monday, August 27 to attend Freshman Orientation. They listened to a number of key speakers including high school Principal Mrs. Breivogel, Assistant Principal Mr. Brown and Mr. Haruthunian, Supervisor of Discipline. They learned what to expect as a student of Wantagh High School and what was expected of them. Board of Education President Michael Cucci, Vice President Jean Quinn and Trustee Tony Greco were in attendance while Superintendent Mr. D’Angelo expressed his desire for the students to be successful and offered the full support of the administration and staff. The freshmen also heard from Miss Keane, Director of Athletics and student athletes Caitlin Ingrilli and Gerard Roche about the importance of academics to sports and the benefits of participation. Anthony Falco, senior and president of The General Organization Club (G.O. Club) encouraged students to get involved and invited them to a reception sponsored by the G.O. Club in the courtyard to learn about the various clubs and organizations offered and enjoy some refreshing Italian Ices. After Mr. Muzio, Director of Guidance, explained the value of the Guidance Department, the students were divided into groups and met with their counselors to receive locker assignments and class schedules. Finally, they were off to navigate the hallways, map out their schedules and practice opening their lockers. Best of luck to the incoming freshmen and welcome to Wantagh High School!
