Principal’s Message
Welcome back to school everyone. It is great to see
such happy faces on our return. By all accounts it
sounds like everyone enjoyed their summer break.
Sadly we could have done with some rain and as
water restrictions are now in place our grounds are
looking a little browner and sounding a little
crunchier than when we finished last year. Fingers
crossed that rain starts to fall across our valley very
soon.
This week our 2014 Kindergarten children began
their school journey. What an exciting time for them
and their families. Welcome –
Olivia, Glen, Ahmad and Tom
We also welcome Stephanie (Yr6) and her family to
our school and community.
This week and next week we are focusing on the
school rules:
1. We wear our school hat every day –
No hat – No play – No sun for the day.
2. We play games that are safe, and with
teacher supervision

We currently have 54 students enrolled from K-6
which allows us to offer 3 classes. This is a lovely
way to start the year. The teachers are now busy
planning their class learning programs. If you would
like to chat to your child’s teacher about their
learning program please call Mrs Wilson to make an
appointment.

Congratulations
A big CONGRATULATIONS to Jake Ch who was
awarded Young Sports Star Of The Year at the
recent Australia Day Awards. We are all very proud
of your achievements and efforts in sport Jake.
Information Update
We are once again updating our student records.
Please ensure we have the correct information for
your children:- home and mobile numbers,
addresses, emergency contacts and any
medical/dietary needs (including allergies) your child
may have.
Don’t Forget – Crunch & Sip
Crunch&Sip® involves a time each
day when children can eat a piece of
vegetable or fruit in the classroom,
while class continues. They can also
have a clear water bottle on their desk
to sip from throughout the day.
Remember to bring a water bottle to school each
day.
Sport
We are beginning the term with our two week
Intensive Swimming Program for all students and
hosting two carnivals.
 Intensive Swimming K-6: 3rd Feb – 13th Feb
 MPS Swimming Carnival K-6: Fri 14th Feb
at the Murrurundi Pool from 9.30am.
 Upper Hunter Small Schools Swimming
Carnival for 8 years and over: Monday 17th
Feb at the Murrurundi Pool from 9.30am.
 The PSSA Upper Hunter Zone Swimming
Carnival is on Friday, 21st of Feb at the
Singleton Pool & Fitness Centre.
In 2013 the students participated in the ‘School
Heroes Cricket Program’. Today I
received a great photo of the Australian
Cricket Team as a token of their thanks
for our school’s support.
School Banking
Our school offers Student Banking through the
Commonwealth Bank of Australia. If you would like
an application package please see Mrs Wilson.
School banking is held on TUESDAY of each week.
School Attendance
Our school roll is marked at 9.30am EACH DAY by
the class teachers. If your child is late to school they
must visit the OFFICE BEFORE entering class and
must be accompanied by their parent or caregiver. If
late all children need to be signed into school.
If your child is absent from school a note is required
on their return explaining their absence, eg. sick,
family leave. Regular attendance at school is
essential to assist students to achieve their
potential. Close monitoring of student
attendance and seeking the support of our
Home School Liaison Officer, if necessary, is a
focus for us in 2014.
Teachers are on playground duty from 9.00am
Monday to Friday. Children are not to be at school
before 9.00am.
It certainly was a brilliant ‘Summer of Cricket’.
