I hope the high standard set at the beginning of the year will continue throughout the session. The Primary 7 ties are due into school in the coming weeks. After school clubs Andy Malone’s Judo club has resumed and will continue every Tuesday 3pm-4pm. After school clubs, delivered by school staff, will commence week beginning the 10th Sep. Further details of clubs being offered this year will follow. Breakfast Club Glenlee Primary School operates a Breakfast Club from 8am to 9am each morning. Pupils receive breakfast and can participate in activities. Parents are asked to contribute a voluntary donation each session. Further details can be obtained for Glenlee Primary School 01698 823343. As we have an increasing number of pupils attending this club, I would like to invite volunteers to accompany Mrs Kinnie and the pupils from Glenlee to St. Cuthbert’s at 8.55am each morning. If you walk this way to school and would be able to volunteer please contact Mrs Hendry. The Breakfast Club are also looking for volunteers for each morning session. Please contact the school if you can support this initiative in anyway. Flying Start We look forward to our Primary 1 pupils joining us for the whole school day from Monday 10th September. Pupils should enter the yard and line up with their house members on this morning at 9am. School Website The school website continues to develop. A new addition is the Head Teacher’s Blog. This is updated on a weekly basis and is another source of information about our school. Please visit the site at www.st-cuthberts-pri.s-lanark.sch.uk Talking Homework Raising attainment in literacy is a key priority this session. To encourage pupils to talk and share ideas at home Talking Homework will be issued each week by Mrs Hendry at assembly. Parents / carers are encouraged to ask their children about the topic and spend a little time engaging in conversation with their children. School Playground To ensure all pupils are safely dismissed from the ground floor classes at 3pm, parents and carers are asked to stand at the top end of the yard, close to the fence, to allow teachers and children to see the adults who are collecting. There are also no dogs, bikes or scooters allowed in the playground. Thank you for your cooperation regarding this matter. Primary 1 lunch Parents and carers of our Primary 1 pupils are invited to join their children for a school lunch on Friday 7th September. Further details will be provided. Annual Data Checks All pupils have received their Annual Data checks. Please return these important forms as soon as possible so data can be updated. Parent / Carer Helpers Parents / carers who are able to help with our school are asked to make themselves known to Mrs Hendry or the school office. Parent / Carer Noticeboard This board is in the school foyer and contains a number of pieces of important information. Please take time to read the board when you are in the school. Roald Dahl Day To celebrate the work of Roald Dahl pupils will engage in a number of activities throughout the morning of Thursday 13th September. Pupils are asked to wear something yellow, Roald Dahl’s favourite colour, on this day. Year of Faith Mass Primary 7 will join with Primary 7 pupils and representatives from secondary schools from the Diocese of Motherwell for mass to celebrate the Year of Faith in Carfin Grotto on Friday 14th September.
