"A Recipe for Success"
A PROGRAM FOR FUTURE Chefs
Semester 2 program
This program, which provides students with rich experiences in the field of professional cooking,
is designed specifically for those pursuing careers in cooking.
"A Recipe for Success", in support of the Ontario Curriculum, is designed to offer specialized
programs and instruction on:
This exciting program will allow students to prepare to become registered apprentices in the
Trade of Cooking and to get a head start into the world of professional cooking. This program
will also meet the need of those students wanting to directly enter the workforce upon
completion of their Ontario Secondary School Diploma.
Semester I students will attend Turner Fenton in Brampton for the first Semester to
complete prerequisite credits. The second semester will begin with three weeks of training
at Turner Fenton S.S. and some may qualify to attend an advanced standing program at
Humber College. Then students will be placed in restaurants and hotels in the Area.
Placements will be determined in consultation with the student, co-operative education
teacher and local industry partners.
The student must:




have completed 16 Credits and 16 years of age prior to the start of the course
be enrolled in grade 11 or 12 of a Peel school
be planning to work in the food service industry
have a sincere interest in pursuing a career as a cook / chef
Student applicants will:



provide a current status sheet and resume
provide two completed reference forms (sections C & D)
answer the questions in section B
APPLICATION DEADLINE:
April 30 for the program so that programming arrangements can be made.
