In this course, we will explore the various aspects of grammar pupils need to know by the end of KS2, in
terms of the requirements of the new programme of study and the KS2 Grammar, punctuation and spelling
test.
We will explore the various aspects of grammar pupils need to know by the end of KS2 and moving into Y7,
ensuring that teachers understand the grammatical concepts and are confident to teach them to children.
We will discuss the importance of teacher modelling, of oral rehearsal and of providing opportunities to
play and experiment with language before committing ideas to paper. We will also consider the
importance of exploring language features through text and then applying them in shared, guided and
independent writing.
Throughout the day, teachers will have the opportunity to explore and experience a variety of teaching
strategies and resources to teach different aspects of grammar for whole class teaching, small intervention
or guided groups as well as 1:1 tuition.
